Chronicling the lives of the Kramer beagles and their hard-working domestic help.

Sherman usually lies on top of the pup tent but this weekend he went under. Maybe because the air conditioning was cranked up? I used to feel guilty about that, but no more, not with our solar panels. Our electric bills are $2.59 which is some kind of fee or tax. If we don’t use electricity when it’s sunny, the meter runs backwards.

Please join me in expressing my heartfelt sympathy to Susan and her husband Rob, who lost their beloved Jordan this past Friday. We all know the pain, and we wish we could take some of it from you.

    Please pass on our sympathies to Susan and Rob. Our thoughts are with them and we know the pain and grief. To quote the poem I found a while back: “The best place to bury a good dog is in your heart”. That’s where he is and that’s where he belongs.

    Susan and Rob – My heartfelt sympathy to both of you. I know the pain of losing a pet (both dog and cat) that only others who also love their four-legged children can understand. Jordan is romping joyfully across the Rainbow Bridge with Bogie and Benny now. You gave him the joy of a wonderful home. Rest in peace, Jordan.

    Laurie – I love today’s pic of Shermie with just his precious little paws showing. It reminds me of Cody under the covers on my bed!

  4. My heart goes out to Susan and Rob. I lost my beloved Buster over 10 years ago and it took me until last year to get another dog. Perhaps I should have gotten one sooner but could not stand the thought of anyone taking his place. Jordan is in a happy place now and pain free. Thank you so much for giving him a good home.

    I’m so sorry Susan and Rob. Having just been there, I know your pain. Nothing takes it away, not even knowing that they’re in a better place, either way you still miss them. Hugs to you both.

    I can only echo the others: My heart just goes out to you, Susan and Rob. It is so very hard and most of us here know exactly how you feel right now. Hold him close in your heart because that is the gift they give you when they are here: a greater capacity and breadth in our ability to love.

    I too, am so so sorry to Susan and Rob for your loss. We do all know the pain and sorrow you feel, but remember the wonderful times. So very sorry.

  8. My condolences to Susan and Rob for the loss of Jordan. It’s never easy to see a much loved animal-child in pain, but it’s also so hard to lose them. Just know that he is in a better place.

    I echo everyone’s comments, Susan and Rob…. Many hugs to you both from the Lash Pack in California….
    RIP sweet Jordan…. Give Whisky Girl a hug from me….

      Harper, I’m sure Jordan is flirting with Whisky Girl right now (actually, the cad probably has his nose up her rump ….). :->

  10. Buddy was in his cozy cave ( Pup Tent ) all weekend too. I guess he just doesn’t like air conditioning. Holly on the other hand, hung out on our bed on top of the covers, right under the ceiling fan.

    And for those who might not remember…one of the most eloquent portraits of canine loyalty (complete with facial expression) is here showing Jordan.

    Susan and Rob, you have my deepest sympathy. I’m so sorry for the loss of your beloved Jordan. I wish I could say something that would make you feel better, but there just are no words. I’ll just send some more California hugs your way.

    Christy, thanks for posting that great pic of Jordan.

    Thanks to everyone on your kind words regarding Jordan’s passing. It has been hard, but it certainly wasn’t unexpected. The support of caring friends like you all has made it bearable. He was an exceptional creature, and we were so lucky to have him in our lives (the last 6 of his 15 or 16 years). He showed a lot of love and true grit even in these last few months, and taught us a lot. He was always strong, so I found it in myself to be strong for him when he needed it. Josie has been a little out of sorts, as you can imagine, but she was starting to get back to her usual silly and voracious self this morning (Rob works from home, so it’s good he can be with her).

    Thank you all again!

    Susan and Rob,
    We are so sorry to hear about Jordan. We still think of our boy Casey everyday. It is never easy to lose our furry friends.

    Susan, Rob & Josie;
    We are so sorry for your loss. Our hearrs break with yours. It has been over 4 years since our beloved Hoover went to the bridge, I guess we never fully recover from the loss. Just know that we are all here for you. Sue, Charlie, Barney & Jodigirl.

    @Laurie,
    This picture reminds me of one that you took after a nail trim, of Clayton I believe. Always love to see your photos, brightens my days, even today. Thank you for all you do for us.

    Condolences to Susan and Rob … we lost our beloved Brownie just 6 months ago and it still hurts. But last night I was drafting marching band flag patterns and Willow came and stretched out at my feet, and I had to smile. I have a sewing buddy again :-)

    Susan and Rob – so sorry to hear about Jordan. Just think of Jordan with all the other DD following beagles who went before him discussing us and telling their stories! Oh my what a funny and tearful sight! Take care and may you find it in your hearts someday to resuce another beagle in need of a good home.

    • Susan in DE said

      We will most definitely adopt another dog again, we have room in our hearts and home. There are so many that need homes, we can do it again. Every tear had been paid in advance one hundred-fold. When the right time comes and the right dog meets us, it will happen. Right now, we’re going to spoil HRH Princess Josie Beagle of North Wilmington, because even though we made a point of giving her plenty of attention during Jordan’s illness, it’s not the same as truly focusing on her.

      • Sue K said

        That is exactly how we felt when we lost Huey a year ago April. We have spent the last year super spoiling Brady. We are now contemplating adopting another Beagle to keep Brady company so he doesn’t have to play with the cats. They love him so much….NOT!

  24. Luke and Jackson's Mom and Dad - Therese and Larry said

    Susan and Rob – there are no words to express the loss of your pet and nothing to comfort you in their place, only know our thoughts of sympathy are with you at this time. We lost our beagle Dee of 18 years 2 years ago, and then this past February we lost our Samuel Lee Dean of 16 years and they both just about took us with them, I thought I would die. We were left with our Jackson who is also 16 years. Then we rescued a 2 year old beagle a month later, Luke Anthony, and are remembering all the joy of a young beagle boy. Maybe you will have another eventually – I know all of us beagle owners see those wanting faces posted and wish we could rescue them all!!!!!!
    Lots of love,
    Therese and Larry Rasnick
