Bird dog

Posted by laurie on July 21, 2010

“Darn! Why can’t I be taller than thirteen inches?”

Thanks to Phillip, who is splitting wood for the wood pile, Sherm can get a nice view of whatever is up there.

Fortunately, his tree climbing skills leave much to be desired and there have been no nest causalities of late.

Cody will often stand at the base of a tree, gazing upward, the same as Sherman is doing. I’m sure that if he had the tree-climbing skills he’d be WAY up in the branches!

How is it that when I look at that first picture, I can hear Sherman announcing his find? I love those beagle voices!

My Niko loves to chase and bark at birds too. Unfortunately she has fairly good tree climbing skills and has managed to get about 5 feet up our spruce tree. Lucky for the birds she is a slow climber

I’d love to see a picture of that! Don’t think I’ve ever seen a dog in a tree!

I have a picture (taken in the late 1980s) of my dog, Prince, climbing a tree. He was totally obsessed with chasing tennis balls. If I put the ball in the tree, he’d climb up to get it.

I’m grateful that Shorty can’t climb trees. It’s bad enough that he caught another rabbit yesterday. I had to take what remained of the carcass from him, and toss it. He looked at me like I took away his most prized possession.
