Stan Over

Posted by laurie on September 28, 2010

After a rough and tumble game of rough and tumble, Sherman retreats to the top of the couch. This does not faze Stanley a bit.

It’s very funny to watch because he does his “stand over” thing (officially renamed to “Stan Over”) but he does it on top of the couch. Sherman couldn’t care less. Lather, rinse, repeat!

Cody and Henry are very much into “rough and tumble,” too. A couple of times a day (maybe more) they will chase each other madly along the same route. It usually starts on the living room sofa, then down the hall into my room, then back down the hall, through the living and dining room, into the kitchen, then back onto the sofa for more wrestling. It’s hard to believe Henry is a senior and Cody the equivalent of a teenager, but I’m so glad Henry’s up to this kind of play every day!

I don’t have a doggie sibling for my baby so it is my job to play “rough and tumble” with her. I chase her around the house and push her over when I catch her and fall over when she catches me. It keeps me young and reminds me of the silly joys of being a kid and the way that tail wags non-stop I know she loves it too.

Jake and Lily love to play chase when it gets cool out. Fortuntaley we have had fall temps the past few days and the game has resumed with much gusto. It just doesn’t last as long as it once did but I’ll take any chase scenes I can get–Jake is 12 1/2 and Lily is a spry 3! We don’t have any “Stan Over’s”, we have Lily seats. Lily loves to use her big brother as a comfy chair to sit on. Face, back, side it doesn’t matter, she’ll happily sit on any part of him she can.
