Peekaboo

Posted by laurie on October 15, 2010

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my shower! This is pretty much what it’s like, except for the water. Yesterday morning Phillip took the boys out while I went for a run. I got home first, stepped into the shower, and a few minutes later was greeted by a little nose poking aside the shower curtain. It was hilarious. Reminded me of the time in college when the door to the study room I was in opened and in came a gorilla. Not a real gorilla (one of the Halloween species) but it freaked me out nonetheless. Stanley was far less menacing.

my sisters two cocker spaniels do this. When her oldest one was a puppy, he went to the tub faucet for a drink, and continues to do this. If you’re in the shower, you can expect to have two little noses peaking in, wanting a drink.

Just yell “Bath time!” That should clear the room.

that works in our house too!

Unless you have a treat in your hand. Seamus falls for it every time. Hubby will walk into the bathroom with tub running and the nose follows the treat and he is in the tub before he knows what happened. These beagles are smart. He knows that if the door is open and the tub is running that a bath is being drawn for him and he does his best to avoid us all!

Cody and a couple of our cats (William and Freddie) like to get into the bathtub and lick the faucet, hoping for a few drops of water to come out. (They only have THREE water dishes that are filled morning and night with fresh water!)

I keep the door closed when I shower. (Thanks Alfred Hitchcock) Any other time, the door is open, and I can get one or all three dogs in to say hello. If I open the shower curtain, they run.

Gomez likes to come by when I get out of the shower and lick the drops off my legs. Such a helpful boy.

Sweetums likes to come in for the additional heater my husband uses but intrusions into the showers are typically a male cat problem in our house…hmmmmmm!!

Sam, my first rescue dog (a Pomeranian/Chihuahua/Dachshund, before I began adopting beagles), used to just stroll through the bathroom while I was taking a shower. He would walk in, make the loop towards the shower stall doors, figure out what I was doing, then just walk out of the room. I guess he just wanted to know where I was.

George and Gracie wait at the shower door so that when I get out they can lick the water off me. Boy does it tickle,

This must be a dog thing. Cody likes to lick the water off my legs and feet when I get out of the shower.

When I first saw this photo I didn’t even have to read what you wrote, I already knew.
First a giggle then a tear. Boston waited for me from puppy to adult every bath, every shower just a step away. As I dried off, he would lick a few drops from the side of the tub and then just wait ever so patiently for me to finish and leave the bathroom. Its been a long time since I thought of that. Thank you for reminding me of a fond memory of my friend. Its been 12 years and I still miss him.
