Sergeant Snowblow

Posted by laurie on December 31, 2010

This was the day after the storm and by now more than half of it is melted. I anticipate the first mud event of 2011 no later than the 1st. See that farmhouse in the corner? A couple with two young children moved in there this summer. I made a banana bread and we brought it as a little housewarming gift. It was happily received but we haven’t heard from them since. Yesterday I made the last 3 of 8 total batches of biscotti and we’re going to give it another try over there today. We’re having Phillip’s mother and sister for New Years Eve dinner, along with our friends Nancy and (Uncle) Bob. Making 6 little cornish game hens and a blueberry almond tart. Be safe and I’ll see you in 2011!

Sounds like you will be having a very tasty New Years Eve dinner! Here in Wisconsin we’re having unusually warm temps for this time of year, which means FOG instead of the snow that is rapidly melting. By tomorrow it’s supposed to get much colder, which means any water on the roads will turn to ICE! I’ll be spending New Years Eve with some friends, having 7:00 dinner out and then a movie. Will pack an overnite bag and make sure Cody and Henry (and the kitties!) have all they need in case I have to spend the night with friends and come home in the morning. (Because of the weather – not due to the celebrations!)

Happy New Year to the entire BOTW family — be safe!

    In Connecticut we got 18″!

Funny, Sergeant Snowblow reminds me of Captain Siding for some reason! Any relationship?

A very happy New Year to you and yours!

I actually hung up my DD calendar at work with the cover showing (Scootie in his sweater in the snow, I love that photo!) so I could look at it for several weeks before starting with the official calendar pages. It’s finally warming up and the snow is melting in Delaware as well. It will just be Rob, me and the hounds for New Year’s Eve tonight — nice quiet little dinner, some sparkling wine (I’ve recently acquired a taste for Prosecca), and I bet the lot of us will be snoring away by 11pm (We’re in our mid-40’s — we recently declared 40 is the new 80, so it’s not surprising)

Laurie, don’t give up on the neighbors … I think in this day and age, even a kind and inviting gift isn’t enough to keep people from being shy (and way too busy). Actually, I’ll bet if you bring lovebug Sherman along with biscotti and let those kids get a hold of him for a few moments, you’ll never be able to keep them out of your house after that. :->

Happy New Year to the whole BOTW family! Wishing you and your beagles a wonderful 2011.

We will be having a rousing celebration beginning with an early dinner at Outback’s where we will share a strawberry daiquiri and then home to avoid those that perhaps have had too much to drink. Will watch TV and celebrate at midnight with a party of 9!! That includes us, the cats-Molly, Yum Yum, Sean, Alex, and Emma(medically needy cat belonging to our son), and of course our beagles-Sweetums and Sam. May 2011 bring many wonderful opportunities for all of us.

I’ve missed the last week of DD and just catching up; love all the posts (from the last 5 days).
Phillip, you are AWESOME! Laurie, glad you guys are back and I love seeing the boys again.

Happy New Year to all the BOTW family! I’m finally going to hang up my DD calendar — and less notes I’ll have to make, since the birth dates & “gotcha” dates are already filled in! Thanks again, Laurie… it’s WONDERFUL.

(love Susan in DE’s comment “40 is the new 80”! — we’re in our early 40’s too) — my darlin’ husband and I will be staying in also (he worked today) safe & cozy with our brood (JD Lab, Whisky Girl Beagle, Tang the getting chubby Cat, and Shotzy the German Shepard puppy) for a quiet evening; doubt we’ll make it to midnight! Then again, every time the neighbors shoot off fireworks, the lab will be barking his head off, with Whisky Beagle hot on his tail; wonder what the puppy will do?

Got a great magnet from my best friend “How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?” (Satchel Paige) — love it.

Be safe, cozy and happy tonight all!

The first year we had Daisy on New Years. I fell asleep on the bed before midnight. Daisy was on there with me. When I woke up, I thought we were having an earthquake(I live in Delaware)because the bed was shaking so bad. It was Daisy, shaking because of the fireworks downtown.

Happy New Year everyone! We spent a quiet night at home with Scooby. Jan. 1 is my birthday too so I opened presents after midnight. Hope everyone has a happy & healthy 2011 filled with love (especially beagle love)!
