And he sews, too!

Posted by laurie on January 10, 2011

On our first or second date I warned Phillip that I “don’t camp.” I should have warned him that I “don’t sew”, as well. I guess it’s not entirely true because I am able to sew a button or a simple hem. But when Phillip decided to shorten all his ties I told him to go to a tailor. He did but chose not to spend $5/tie so he found this cute little sewing machine on the web and bought it. And then proceeded to shorten his ties, all by himself!

P.S. the facial hair is gone.

I love Stanley’s face and posture. It’s like he’s thinking, “What is that alien, and do I need to destroy it?”

All by himself? I think not – it looks like Stanley is “helping” (or supervising!) Good for Philip! If he ever wants to go into a new profession, he can take up tailoring!

What kind of machine is it? I like it.

I like it too and wanted to buy one to sew straight seams for pillows.

I agree! Hey Philip…what is that? BTW Laurie – if it can’t be hand sewn I can’t do it either….but at least you cook! I would have had to confess that I can’t sew, cook and hate camping!

Glad to see that Phillip is properly supervised! I can and do sew a lot but that machine is very cute indeed. Like what Ellen said about do I need to destroy it? LOL

hey, it’s a power tool so i thought, “I can figure this out.” I look up the name when i get home. it’s a pretty good machine for simple stuff. it cost about $20-$25

      Love it… “power tool”….

Wonder if I can convince my husband that he needs a new “power tool”? 🙂

I guess if you can figure out how & when to use the three or four remotes sitting on the coffee table, you can figure out a sewing machine 🙂 Just be careful…..Stanley might have you stitching up some chew toys pretty soon.

BTW – I kind of like the facial hair look

I tell my husband (and myself) that one can do pretty much anything with beagle help. It’s just invaluable.

Love the supervisor! What would we do without a beagle or 2 to make sure we do things correctly. I don’t camp either – & gave up repair-type sewing when I started quilting. My husband is very good at sewing his own buttons.

Ok the sewing machine is the “lil’ Sew & Sew” by Trivax. I think we either got it on ebay or amazon.

    Laurie,

OK…curiousity has gotten the better of me and I just have to ask….WHY is he shortening his ties!? Kudos to him for losing the weight, and having gone thru the same experience, I totally understand that even ties fit (or fall) differently minus the belly. But, isn’t that the beauty of a tie? Just start the knot at the proper place so that it falls exactly at the belt level…..what gives?

Thanks in advance for satisfying my curiousity!

ps….happy new year to you and the boys!
