Clayton

Posted by laurie on January 21, 2011

Clayton was indeed the master of “the pose,” don’t you think? He’s looking up at the treat cabinet, and every time Stanley does the same thing I think about my little guy.

We lost Clayton a year and five days ago. This picture is from 2000, I think. Oh, how we miss him, but oh, how lucky we were to have him for 14-1/2 years. He’s probably still at the all-you-can-eat buffet in beagle heaven, not having left since he got there.

Your boys are ageless. All of em. Philip included!

Awww, Clayton … and Scooter!! (Now you need to put up a picture of Spenser). We miss all three boys, too. Love the idea of the all-you-can-eat buffet in heaven! It reminds me of the “Dog Letters to God” …. “Dear God, More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.” … “Dear God, Is it true that in Heaven, dining room tables have on-ramps?”

      Exactly, well said

Oh, I can think of a number of beagles that haven’t left that buffet. What a great picture that conjures! I just hope Heidi isn’t bossing the others around too much.

Hugs to you and thanks for sharing the pics. They never leave our memories or our heart.

I was just pointing out to my mother-in-law the Original Three on the calendar last night.

They sure had a lot of friends out here in the intarwebz.

My goodness how time flies,we miss them all. I wanted to do a update on our boys, Casey & Dexter, I had posted on Nov 19th about a lump on Dexter’s paw the antibiotic did help some but he is having it removed today, we do not want to know if it is cancer. He is a big lug of a beagle with a sweet and gentle heart (unless you are a meter reader or the UPS guy) so once again I ask for your prayers. Every since Nov now we’ve been having a terrible time with Casey (12.5 years old) in Nov they put him on Diogxin , he quit eating & he like a typical beagle had always loved his food, so we quit giving it to him once again he started to eat but only for a short time, things have gone down hill since then. It is a real pain to get him to eat, I’ve made everything from roasted chicken legs, burger w/ rice & eggs were lucky if he will eat once a day,he’s taking numerous kinds of medication that we have to shoot down his throat with a syringe so we’re asking for prayers for Casey too. I could not bear to lose both of our little guys. I’ll keep you posted.

Bobbie, we’re sending many thoughts and prayers your way for Casey & Dexter. It’s bad enough dealing with these scary situations (and vet bills) with one dog let alone both at the same time. :-<

We're all pulling for your sweet little houndie-boyz!

I will be praying for you and your boys. It is so hard for your best friends to not be well. I wish they could talk and let us know what is wrong.

Prayers and much positive energy to you and your precious boys!

Many prayers for Dexter. Hope the surgery goes well and he’s feeling fine again. And God bless Casey.
May I add to the prayer list? Shiloh is swelling with fluid again, too. Taking to the vet’s to get drained. Prednisone’s not working any more.

Awww, sure miss Clayton (and Scooter and Spenser). Never noticed before, but Clayton has somewhat of an arrow on his back leg like Stanley. Coincidence or fate?

Clayton and our Andy (RIP) could have been littermates. When I saw Clayton’s picture today I immediately missed Andy.

So nice to see Clayton and Scooter. We’ve always thought our Hubble could have been littermates with Clayton (and now Andy too)

Josie is made from the Clayton mold as well, including shorter front legs than back legs. Looks really weird when they’re standing, but it’s oh-so-efficient when you’re jogging and sniffing at the same time, gets your snoot that much closer to the ground.

Clayton and the others are gone but not forgotten.

The heartwarming thought here is that the beagles we once again open our hearts to actually help us remember the beagles past that left footprints on our hearts forever. The memories always remain and thankfully for the new beagle lives we currently share our lives with help us remember the funny and happy times. Clayton, Scooter and Spencer were awesome boys and Sherman and Stanley carry on their legacy in the Daily Digital. Thanks for letting us share in your happiness. Beagles still are the best!

I agree, Vivian. My precious beagle boys (Bogie and Benny) who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge will always be remembered when I cuddle Cody and Henry.

I looked back at the picture of Clayton and I just noticed something. I was saying how black his fur was back then and then I noticed the white patch of fur on his hip. Almost looks like and arrow in the picture. Just like Stanley. MMMM maybe there is a higher power at work here.

Loved that sweet Clayton. Shiloh is also a shorty and Clayton reminds me of him so much.

I miss Clayton too. That notched ear boy was a special hound.
