B-52 Stanleyfortress

Posted by laurie on April 7, 2011

It wasn’t all that long ago that when I asked Phillip to help with a DD photo, he’d roll his eyes and say, “maybe later.” Now he’s posing the boys, photographing them and emailing me the pics. Way to go, Phillip!

Here we have Stanley emulating his daddy in his Air Force days, by making his ears look just like the wings of a B-52. Doesn’t this shot remind you of Clayton? He was the best howler EVER.

Very nice, Phillip. I hope you’ll shoot more video also.

    Love those B-52 ears!
My Andy was a great howler too – I miss the singing. Sherry hasn’t bayed once in the 2 1/2 years we’ve had her (she’s able to get her point across by batting her eyelashes).

Love the photos. And Lois, LOL about Sherry getting her way by batting her eyelashes …. Josie bats her tail against everything to get our attention. :-> She was pretty quiet the first few years we had her, but now in Year 6, she’s getting a bit more vocal, but she usually moans and moos at us, and reserves her arooing for her backyard patrols. Jordan is more likely to sing or greet you with the lovely beagle howl.

My Rowdy had a lovely baritone arooo. My Timmy is too quiet! I wish he would sing more since he has a nice boy soprano voice.

Jodi screams if she realizes she is the only one in the yard, or if she wants Barney to play and he won’t. Then of course there is the squirrel, the cat, the bird, the leaf falling :). Barney is very quiet, maybe because he can’t get a word in edgewise? LOL

The only one of our beagles I have heard actually baying was Bogie. I was walking him on a Sunday morning. Suddenly he must have smelled a really great scent, and the baying began! I’ve never heard a sound like that before or since! Since it was fairly early in the morning, I was hoping he didn’t wake any of the neighbors, but he probably did!

Stanley has great B-52 ears in the March photo in the calendar! I would smile each time I passed the refrigerator and saw those silly ears airborne while he and Sherman happily destuffed toys.

I hope Clayton and Lady Beagle are the Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald of the Rainbow Bridge Chorale. Lady had a Wagnerian voice when she picked up a scent–it began with little yelps and crescendoed into a full scale ‘Ride of the Valkyries” bay. A friend of mine said ‘she put the ‘Bay’ in Bay Ridge”.

My Buster was a howler, too – I got a citronella bark collar for him – and it din’t phase him a bit – he would bark until it had no more spray – turns out he actually LIKED the smell. I can still see him running and howling – tail up, head back, ears flapping…I miss that boy.

Great photo of a howl in progress. I can hear him now!
