We’re home!

Posted by laurie on April 18, 2011

First off, many, many thanks to Courtneay, Lance and Maggie for taking such good care of the boys. They were waiting when we got home on Friday night, and while they were just a tad confused for a day, as you can see everything and everyone is back to normal. Second, I just loved Courtneay’s photo of Sherman on the laptop and it will definitely go on the 2012 calendar! And third, I’m so sorry for Sue K. and her family on the loss of Huey Dandelion. I’ll post a photo of him this week.

Guess who? Is he a manly scuba diver or what?

This is me and that’s a sea cucumber. They sit on the sand at the bottom with their relatives the starfish. Sea cucumbers are amazingly soft.

Thursday was our 20th anniversary and we renewed our vows on the beach. It was really lovely. Our friends Cathy, Judy, Ron and Sharon all attended, along with the people who were sunning themselves near us. We had a lavish Jamaican fruitcake with champagne after the ceremony. And now we enter the next 20 years! I wonder if that’s when he’ll learn to replace the empty toilet paper roll?

Both of you look gorgeous and oh so happy! Here’s to another 20+ years…there is always hope he can learn that skill. In my marriage, I’m the one that can’t get the paper on and we will be married 30 years in June. Guess it is a skill you are either born with or you just don’t get!!

    Welcome back and happy anniversary.

So sorry to hear of Sue K’s loss, Huey will surely be missed.

On a brighter note, we rescued a little girl beagle on Friday. Her name is Daisy Mae, and so far, she has been a good little girl, no accidents in the house. She is supposed to be six, (we think she’s older), and was a breeder who was dumped at a shelter, where she had been for the last two years. She has never made a sound though, which we have never heard of in a beagle. No barking, baying, anything.

Congratulations Bobbie. Daisy Mae is very lucky girl to have found you 🙂

I have a Daisy Mae beagle also. She is part terrier, though, which gives her a piping yip-yip-yip!

      Congrats on your new dog.

Daisy Mae will find her voice when she becomes more settled. Poor sweet girl.

Aw, congrats on your Daisy Mae. We just lost our 12 year old beagle, Daisy, on April 1. We adopted our foster beagle, Abby, the following day. Abby is a senior beagle, and she’s had a rough life. She didn’t bark at all when she first got here either. A month later, she howls at the fire siren, and barks when I come home. Your Daisy will find her voice when she feels comfortable.

Congrats, Bobbie, and I agree with everyone else — Daisy Mae will get her voice when she settles in. Josie took almost 5 years … Last fall, I pulled into the driveway after work one day and heard the baying, and thought, “Man, I don’t recognize that bark, I wonder if one of the neighbors got a new dog? It almost sounds like a beagle …. Oh crap, that’s my dog, I wonder how long that’s been going on?” (She was in the yard behind the house, as we have the dog door).

How many men does it take to change a roll of toilet paper?

We do not know. It has never been done.

Congratulations on your anniversary – you both look great, and very happy!
