Passover part 1

Posted by laurie on April 25, 2011

The best pictures from our Passover weekend were unfortunately not taken. The first was Stanley running away with a large piece of gefilite fish in his mouth and the second was Sherman standing on top of the the coffee table, licking furiously from a bowl of chopped liver. If they weren’t Jewish before, they certainly are now! And here is Moses eating a piece of Matzoh with Phillip’s brother, Wayne. Moses is so devoted to Wayne that he even tries to follow him into the bathroom.

There were five dogs total. In addition to the boys and Moses, Levi the mutt and Elizabeth the golden/lab mix were in attendance. Elizabeth is only about a year old and she kept getting in Stanley’s face, which made him freak out each and every time. By the end of the day he was exhausted. He climbed onto my lap here and went right to sleep. They did well at night – we got our own room with twin beds and the boys switched off sleeping with Phillip and me. My mother-in-law Gitty was a saint AND a good cook!

I love the way Moses sits on the couch!

Moses is huge! Poor Stan…is he better today without a young eager doggie in his face?

Since it’s just me and my husband here, I don’t close the bathroom door. So I usually get between one and three beagles in there with me at a time. It’s kind of hard to pet three dogs with only two hands. I’m not sure if it’s devotion, or they just want to make sure they aren’t missing out on something.

Poor Stan, sounds like too much of a good thing, sort of sensory overload. Our house was built in the mid-60s, so there is no room to spare in the bathrooms. There is no way a dog as big as Moses could squeeze in there. We definitely have beagles trying to rush in with us all the time, I think in their little brains it’s not the bathroom, but the “head scritchies room”. Heck, you’re sitting down and your hands aren’t occupied, what else could that room be called? :->

I second both Ellen and Susan! Too funny! I would have loved to have seen the picture of Stan with the prize gelfite fish in his mouth. Still, the mental picture makes me smile.

I love Moses. Our 1st dobie used to sit on the ottoman just like that.

In the 20 years of our marriage, I’ve never been alone in the bathroom. At first it was the doberman and the eskimo. Then it was the beagle, the basset, the doberman, and the eskimo. Now, it’s 4 beagles (Sophie’s too old to climb the stairs) and the doberman #2. The beagles are looking for treats and the dobe is just our velcro dog. You don’t go anywhere without her.

I hope you all had a good holiday.

Oh man, the mental pictures of Stan making off with the gefilte fish and Shermie (the innocent SHERMIE???) having his way with the liver are hilarious. In my mental scenario, they’re happening concurrently, which is really entertaining.

I totally agree that Gitty is a saint!

Sherrie got to lick chopped liver off my fingers. She kept checking under the table for food fall-out last Monday & Tuesday.

Passover will always remind us of the seder at which Andy did a perfect dramatization of the “plague of the wild beast” (i.e. – humping a pillow at the appropriate time. I suppose we all miss our old guys who have gone to the rainbow bridge!

yeah but what I wanna know is which dog found the Afikkomen and which dog opened the door for Elijah? 😉

Love the pictures of Moses and the sleeping beagles. Brady had his check-up at the vet today and he is healthy, healthy, healthy! He is a calm, loveable little boy until it is nail trim time. Then he turns into Psycho-Beagle!

On a non-beagle note – my breast biopsy was BENIGN!!! Yeah!! 🙂

Happy belated Easter & Passover everyone!

Now if this Moses had told Pharaoh to let the Israelites go, that would have ended the conversation.

    Happy Passover!

My three beagles rush to the bathroom too. They can be resting and I can go anywhere else in the house and it not bother or disturb their beagle naps but, if I go the bathroom they rush the door. If I shut the door there are noses under the door, paws under the door, or scratching on the door. I think what is in their minds is that mom and dad are going to jump out of the window and disappear forever.
