Who says Beagles hate water? Maxine loves the sprinkler… She’s our beautiful 16 year old rescue. Senior dogs rock!

Right on, Maxine! Senior dogs DO rock – my Henry’s living proof of that! Beautiful picture!

I agree with you! Seniors do rock!

Maxine looks a lot like Onyx. Onyx will stay out in the rain all day and it’s even better if she can dig in some fresh mud! 🙂

Maxine looks like a sweet old lady.

Rain doesn’t bother my little Timmy. He’ll come in totally soaked.

Agreed! Seniors are the BEST! I have 5 of them at my house, the youngest is about 9. I’d take a senior over a puppy any day.

Oh, how I love the fade on the black on seniors. To me, they start to look like puppies again as they age except better because you can see their hearts and personalities in their faces. Like I always told Gigi when she was younger and getting in trouble all the time, “I’m only putting up with this so I can enjoy you once you’re adorable and old!”

Maxine is a beaut and I adore her cute head shape! Cute little belly going on there, too.

Maxine is adorable, my Beags are not fans of the water. Seniors do ROCK!!
Great picture. Give her a belly rub from us 🙂

I love Maxine, she’s so cute — even soaking wet. Totally agree, I love the seniors myself.

How adorable… I love the white heart shape senior beagles get on their faces.

Thanks for sharing EXACTLY how I feel about my two senior babies. Senior beagles ROCK! BHW, I love the pic of your Maxine. Our dogs make us smile don’t they?

Maxine is adorable! I miss my senior! Oh well – Sherry’s 4, so she’ll get to senior eventually.

This is so sweet that Maxine “made the cut” for the Guest DD! I looked every morning this week to see if she was featured.
But… unfortunately Maxine crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday night. She had a seizure, then her heart stopped, we were all with her when it happened. Maxine stole our hearts from the start, and I’m glad we could make her last 19 months full of love & spoiling rotten! Going to miss her hypnotic gaze…

Oh no!!! I’m so sorry to hear of this but also very glad she got the 19 months of a lifetime with you to make her joy complete. And very glad we all got to see and share a bit of her with you.

I’m going home to hug my dog now…

My heart skipped a beat when I saw Maxine’s picture, because she reminded me so much of our Sophie Jean. There is so much wisdom in those old faces and yet, so much happiness and curiosity. And, then, when I read that she had crossed the Bridge, my heart broke, even though I had only known her a few minutes. I think her and Sophie will be real good buddies up there.

Oh Kim, I’m so sorry to hear that Maxine is now gone! :-< But bless you for giving her that 19 months of happiness with your family. Their lives are never long enough, whether you get them as a puppy or as a senior.

We are so sorry to hear! We lost our 16 year old senior, Tommy, this February – he also made a DD guest spot…

We adopt all our beagles from Arizona Beagle Rescue and you are so right! Senior beagles are the BEST!!!

I am SO sorry to hear of Maxine’s passing. How wonderful that her picture “made the cut” for the DD anyway. You gave her a wonderful home and lots of love in her senior years.

We are so sorry to hear of Maxine’s passing. Beagles have a way of leaving their paw prints on our hearts. We send our deepest condolences to you.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words! Maxine was a sweetheart, and gave us joy as she transformed from a scared, untrusting snapping at you dog to a mellow, lover girl. We got her back yesterday from the pet cemetery, and what a tearfest! They DO steal our hearts…

Yay Maxine, you are beautiful! My heart belongs to the seniors.

  15. Kramer and Gandolf's mom said

Everybody has said it!! Maxine is a sweetie. My Kramer hates the water. Hates it! Gandolf on the other hand, he loves it. Perhaps it’s the shepherd in him?
And I agree. Senior dogs rock. Kramer is 13, and Gandolf will be 7 on Saturday. Better than puppies, any day. 🙂

Oh my Gosh, Kim Henry…I *just* read your other post. I am so very sorry for your loss! How sad. Take solace knowing she did indeed cross the Rainbow Bridge. I am sorry. She’ll always have your heart. Bless you for making her last 19 months full of love, and you are a kind soul for adopting an older dog.

Awwww, how sweet Maxine looks!!! So sorry to hear of your loss. We lost our senior beagle over the summer at almost 17. We now have Judy who is about a year old. She is so full of joy and so much fun. There is something special about a senior that steals your heart. I am sure Samantha met Maxine at the Bridge.

  18. Harper said

I’m so sorry Kim Henry… but how wonderful that Maxine was a guest DD… she looks like a very happy soul….

She looks alot like my Whisky Girl (we got her at 7 months, but she’s 6.5 years now and getting the grey on top of her eyelids)

Thoughts, hugs, prayers, and puppy/dog kisses from the Lash Clan in California.

    • Susan in DE said

Harper, how’s Whisky Girl doing? Feeling any better (we hope!)?

      • Harper said

Thanks so much for asking… She’s got spring in her step, is playing and chasing Shotzy the Shepard, but still straining to tinkle… But she’s still the typical beagle and gobbles her food and she’s drinking water… We have a follow up with the vet in two weeks…
