We love camping! (not!) That’s Baxter on the chair, and Joe on the floor.

    Aw-sweet doggies. Love the coloring.

On a personal note, DD family. My mom is in her last days. I’m heading to NC to be with her. My sister’s in the same town. I took care of my mom for 24 years after she had a massive heart attack and stroke at age 56. She’s been with my sister since ’08. Her tired body has stopped producing blood and her kidneys are now shutting down.
She adored my Shiloh and I’m sorry Ruby won’t get the chance to meet her.

Thinking of you during this difficult time. It’s awful, awful hard to lose a mom.
      Take care.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know how hard it is to lose your Mom. I lost mine in 2003 and still miss her terribly. It is so sad our new rescue beagle Judy will never get to meet her. She loved animals and I sure Judy would have loved her.

Martha – Safe travels. I’m so very sorry to hear about your Mum. Very glad, however, to hear that you are going to be with her. She’ll hug Shiloh…and all the others…for us, I hope. Try to be strong and we’ll be here when you get back.

My thoughts are with you too! I’m finding out what you & your sister have been going through. My mother, who is almost 91, developed dementia this year. I’ve had a hard enough time dealing with a sick, eldely parent for 6 months – so I admire your strength in handling your stress for over 2 decades! I’m so sorry your mother won’t get to meet Ruby.

Joe looks like he’s doing OK, but Baxter seems to be thinking “If I could get rid of this darn leash I could REALLY have some fun!”

I feel the same way about camping.

    Handsome boys.

The best part about camping for my beagles is when I open the tent door so they can nest in the sleeping bags! Love how Baxter has made himself more comfy by using the chair!

    • Monika said

Yes, that definitely the best part! My husband had to sit on the cooler the rest of the night since Bax took his seat. It’s only fair, since he kept getting up from his seat to get drinks anyway.

Martha, so sorry for you and your family, travel blessings being sent.

Our Beagles came to us after our “camping” days. We had a pop up, with an air conditioner (only way to camp in Texas). I’m not sure they would be good camper-dogs 🙂

Thanks for the picture your kids are beautiful

Cute boys, Monika and you can definitely see the looks on their faces saying…uh, I prefer the couch. LOL. Joe seems to be taking it in stride.

I use a gentle leader for Gigi too. Works like a champ for those pullers who could double for oxen.

  7. Cobalt & Onyx's mom said

that’s what I was thinking, Christy! They look like they’d rather be snuggled into the couch.

    Monika,
    Very handsome boys you have.
I use the gentle lead on my Whisky Girl too, as well as the lab and the Shepard.
    Works like a charm

Precious picture! Although they don’t always show it, beagles love camping. The squirrels and chipmunks to chase…the wienie roasts…nesting in sleeping bags, I could go on! The first day camping our Scooby will scratch at the tent flap to be let IN to go to sleep early. He needs his beauty rest after chasing squirrels all day. (He stays on a 20 ft. rope tied up in our campsite so the squirrel always wins.) But by day 3 he is scratching at the car door, ready to go home! Camping exhausts him!

Very handsome boys! They are adorable!

Baxter and Joe, I’m with you on the whole camping thing! Monika, they are very handsome and they seem to be very patient also. 🙂

Monika, Baxter and Joe are awesome!! We’ve taken Josie & Jordan with us to stay in the Outer Banks in NC, but that’s in a pet friendly rental house. Neither one is interested in the beach, though — kinda boring, and we won’t let them eat dead jellyfish. The first year we were walking near the edge of the water and a slightly larger wave rolled up the beach, they had no idea it was coming. The water touched Josie’s little tooties and she jumped about 3 feet straight into the air and 6 feet up the beach, and spent the rest of the walk acting like she’d been violated. Jordan just got seriously splashed, was initially surprised, and then just looked wet and sad. Rob doesn’t dare take them camping, Josie would probably be up all night inside the tent hooting at the wildlife (and then tear the tent apart to get outside at them).
