With Halloween just over a month away, I thought I’d send in a picture of Scooby in his costume from last year. Since his Gotcha Day was Oct.31, 1999, I have always dressed him up every Halloween since. He has been a butterfly, a baby, a biker, a hockey player and most recently a jailbird. When kids come to our door for candy they always get a kick out of Scooby in his costume. I haven’t decided what he will dress up as this year, I just might put him in the Hawaiian shirt I picked up for him in the Dominican Republic last winter. (I got matching shirts for Scooby and my husband…you know, matching father-son shirts!)

I would have liked to see the baby costume!

Scooby is such a handsome jailbird! Very good looking (and patient) boy!

    That’s so funny!

  4. My daughter’s beagle could use a costume with ‘bad dog’ on the hat. However the hat would not stay on very long.

Love this picture. A Beagle Butterfly? Oh my 🙂

Too funny! Scooby obviously enjoys being dressed up, they can be such hams sometimes. Jordan is fine dressed up, and I think he likes it, but Josie despises even the thought. She won’t even wear a harness, she will fall over in a heap and try to chew it off (Fortunately she’s not a puller, so a plain collar is just fine).

    LOL….he clearly loves it!

If you go with the hawaiian theme this year, all you need is to be sure he can say Aloha. 🙂

Charlie is going to be a green bug this year…matches his buggy wall-eyes well. Gigi is going to either be a little devil or a ladybug again. I think devil is better. 🙂

Wow. I am impressed. Halloween at our house is unpleasant. I tried to dress the beags up the first year (they were about 1). We have a great picture of Onyx biting me and Cobalt furiously trying to get his costume off. Then they tag teamed, and worked together to free each other!

We have to keep the beags barricaded in the dining room during trick or treat, so they can’t see the front door. They go ballistic every time someone comes to the door, and then they keep hearing the word ‘treat’ and they aren’t getting any! So they get barricaded in the dining room, I sit in their with them to calm them (but they still howl and cry) and Erich sits outside on the front step so no one rings the doorbell. I am so grateful our city only allows an hour and a half for trick or treating- I love my beags but it is the LONGEST hour and a half of the year!

Actually that’s an excellent idea– limit the hours of trick or treating. That way you know when it’s safe to close shop and go to bed.

We don’t get Trick & Treaters anymore in our sub division. All the church’s and schools have things, I guess to keep the kids off the streets, even the Mall gives out candy. So….no ringing door bells or howling beagles at our house. Kinda miss it.

In our small town they only allow treat or treating in the afternoon hours the Sunday before Halloween. People who have candy to give out turn on their front porch lights, so if your light isn’t turned on nobody rings your doorbell!

That picture must be HILARIOUS! It always amazes me when some people have beagles they can dress up and take pictures of – I’ve never been able to get any of mine to stay still enough to pose in a costume.

Last year I bought pirate hats for Cody and Henry at PetSmart (50% off!). Cody tore his off as soon as I got it on him. Henry kept his on a little longer, enough so that I got a couple of really cute pics of him. After that I let the hats lie on the floor, and in no time the fake fur around the edges was all chewed off and scattered all over the house. Good thing the hats were half price – they went in the trash two days later!

What a sweet boy Scooby is! I, too, would’ve loved to seen the butterfly costume!

Awww my baby made the guest DD! I feel like a proud parent at a school play!

Yes he is very patient. He loves to ham it up and loves the camera as well. He likes to be silly and goofy. For his butterfly costume I just used the wings from a kid’s butterfly costume, you know the ones with the elastic bands that the arms go through and the wings sit on their back. Works the same on a beagle…you just have to get a toddler size to fit.

Thanks Laurie for choosing to share Scooby with all the BOTW followers!

Scooby is so funny in his little prisoner costume, especially with “Bad” showing on the hat! I love the picture!

Great picture, Scooby looks like he is saying something. He’s a cutie.

We’ve done the costume thing many times, they usually are only on long enough to take a picture. This will be Eddy’s first year with us at Halloween, wonder if it will bother him being dressed in a Minnie Mouse costume?

I’m Scooby’s Aunty Donna and am just as proud of him as his Mom! He really does love the camera and knows exactly when to pose. He’s a little character that’s for sure!!!
