Paging Carl Linnaeus

Posted by laurie on November 1, 2011

If you followed yesterday’s comments you’ll know that there was a slight difference of opinion regarding the taxonomic classification for the tree that fell down in the snow. I called it a cherry tree while Phillip insists it’s an apple tree. Last night was spent listening to Phillip replace “cherry” for “apple” in phrases like “a cherry a day keeps the doctor away…” I hate to admit he was right, it was my silly mistake. However, there will be no gloating here today, sweet hubby. Just remember who has the camera when you’re in the hot tub.

HAHAHAHAAA! You tell him, Laurie!! Cute picture regardless of the tree you guys lost (which I am sorry you did lose it!). I gotta say, living in upstate NY, I am really glad we didn’t get that horrid storm. It is such a mess when the flakes are so wet. Pretty, yes, but still a mess. Glad you guys are all okay.

Love it! Good natured ribbing based on “intellectual humor” is good for a relationship. We do it all the time. :->

I neglected to post yesterday that the Lash clan is happy to hear that all back east DD folks are all right….
And I always say I’m right, even when I’m wrong (womans perogative)

Too funny! Anyway, that’s one less tree for the boys to pee on.

See, I would have classified it based on the cherry pits or apple seeds in the beagle poop. But that’s just me. I hope.

Ahh, yes. There is one less tree now for the boys’ peeing pleasure.

Maybe you guys can replace it with a cherry tree? I love my cherry tree. It’s usually a race between the squirrels and I to see who gets the most!

You reminded me to change my calendar! What a lovely picture!

I’ve always loved this picture of Clayton, Spenser and Scooter. For some reason today it made me a bit sad, I miss my beagle girls.

I’m a bit sad too. Am missing my Whisky Beagle so very much… All of her pictures rotate thru my computer screen….
However we do have a new family member …. Bartles the Bassett hound… A complete love noodle. We rescued him Saturday. He’s not Whisky, but he’s definitely beginning to bridge the gap between the lab and the shepard.

Congrats on Bartles joining your pack, Harper. You’ll never totally stop missing Whisky Girl ever, but I’m so glad to hear another hound needing a forever home is with you.

I just love November’s picture of the Original Three. I think it’s the most beautiful picture taken of Spenser, Scooter, and Clayton together.

You’re not the only one with a difference of opinion regarding the taxomonic classification of a fruit/vegetable. It appears Safeway is confused too. The vet suggested I put canned pumpkin in the beagles food to help solidify the stools. After going up and down the canned fruit and vegetable aisle for about 10 minutes I asked where was the canned pumpkin. It appears Safeway thinks canned pumpkin is a baking item with the sugar and flour. Of course this is the store that puts canned black eyed peas with the canned green peas and not with the beans??? And, by the way, the Matzo Ball mix is in with the Hispanic Food. Go figure. Now Whole Foods puts the canned pumpkin with the canned vegetables.

Anyway, the canned pumpkin works very well if your beagle has loose stools from eating disgusting things throughout the day.

I knew there was a reason I’d stopped shopping at Safeway. Seems to me that Whole Foods knows where to put the Matzo ball mix too.

Well I’m checking the black eyed peas next time I’m there and let you know. Ha!

You can bet that at the next beaglefest we’ll all be bringing cherry desserts!
