Book report

Posted by laurie on November 22, 2011

I’m reading “11/22/63” by Stephen King. This is actually the first book I’ve read by him and I picked it because I love time travel stories and it has great reviews on Amazon. This is where a Kindle is at its very best, because the hardcover has 849 pages. That’s almost as heavy as that dog resting across my entire mid-section. I’m really enjoying the book.

(Kennedy was assassinated on my 4th birthday, a claim to fame that I could do without.)

Happy Birthday! I’m an avid reader, but I’ve always been kind of afraid to read his books. The movies I’ve seen based on them are freaky enough.

Happy Birthday! I am reading “11/22/63” on my nook. I got away from Stephen King after “The Stand”, but this subject was too intriguing to ignore. I started reading it a few days ago and was hooked from the first paragraph. Our hounds are helping to keep the boogie man at bay 🙂

Happy Birthday, Laurie. Feel free to party and eat like a Beagle ( just don’t pick up anything from the grass). Happiness is a book and a Beagle.

Happy Birthday, Laurie! Today is also my sister and her husband’s 20th wedding anniversary (or maybe it’s tomorrow …. close enough!). Get some good rest and relaxation before the familial horde descends on your house. :->

Happy Birthday! (I was confused about the birthday wishes at first, until I realized TODAY is 11/22…….duh!)

I’ve been tempted to get a Kindle, but am just not ready to part with my books. I’m reading Mists of Avalon – which is 870-ish pages – and it’s an old copy I bought at a used book sale, so it’s a little worn. I was just thinking last night when reading how much I enjoy the soft feel of the yellowed pages, the heft of the book on my lap, and the scent of old paper as I read. Someday I’ll go to an e-reader, but I don’t think I’m ready yet….. And Spunky is a book licker, for some reason, so I wouldn’t want to take that pleasure away from my sweet beagle…..

Happy Birthday. Let us know how you like the book. I too stopped reading S King after The Stand. But this looks good. I wait until they come out in paperback and buy them at 1/2 price at Costco because I read so much.

    Oooh! Happy Birthday Laurie!!

I stopped reading Stephen King mid-book during the Tommyknockers. NOT a book for (wimpy, scaredy-cat) beagle lovers. I’m going to check out “11/22/63” though – I do love his writing as long as it’s not scary.

    Feh. Make that “The Tommyknockers”.

Our son has purchased that book for my husband for Christmas. (My husband would not do well with Kindle, Nook or anything electronic!!) I might actually read this one too. My husband and I grew in the same town as Stephen King. My brother taught school with him and we saw him at many University of Maine athletic events. My husband is a big fan. I usually don’t read his books or watch his movies, but there are a few I like. My favorite is The Langoliers (the one about the plane). His house is interesting looking with iron bats on the gates, etc. It fits him!
