The 2012 DD Calendar

Posted by laurie on November 14, 2011

Finally, the calendar is ready! I’ve increased the price this year from $15 to $17 ($18 non-US) to help with some of the shipping costs. A full $15 per calendar will go to beagle rescue. You can pay through PayPal, which I prefer, or by check. I’ve also set up a form (for purchasers) to enter up to five special days to go on the calendar: birthday, gotcha day, or in memory of day. Please use the form, not email. I’m hoping it will keep me better organized. Let’s make the weekend after Thanksgiving the deadline for the special days, so Ron can get started on the printing after that.

Here’s the web page for the calendar with the special days signup and purchase info. Buy one, buy many, support beagle rescue! And please don’t forget to thank Ron (Bailey and Gypsy’s dad) for donating ALL the printing!

Could I get some dental floss, please?

Posted by laurie on November 11, 2011

Every night after dinner Phillip gives the boys their treat while I start on the dishes. Sherman takes his into the living room (he takes all treats into the living room, scampering in with his tail wagging) but Stanley just plops down because he doesn’t want to waste ONE MINUTE. Then he eats it as fast as he can so he still make it to the dishwasher in time for his evening shift.

Did I mention that we’re going to have 13 Kramers and 3-4 dogs for Thanksgiving? Yikes!

No clue whatsoever

Posted by laurie on November 10, 2011

There are always goodies to be found in my iPhoto library! I have no idea what Phillip was doing here, but if I remember correctly he asked for the photo to be taken, so there you go. The boys were probably just as confused as I.

Please pass the pillow

Posted by laurie on November 9, 2011

It’s nice to drive to work in the light, but boy, do I ever hate the darkness at 5pm. Our living room is not cozy in the dark, due to the double sliding glass doors which are like large black holes, letting no light escape. I’d love to have one of those HTGV makeovers. Wouldn’t the boys be so cute on TV?

Call on line seven

Posted by laurie on November 8, 2011

After the polls close at 8pm today, I hope to be able to pry Phillip’s cellphone from his shoulder. Actually, I take that back, I won’t be able to until the ballots have all been counted, the winners announced and the beer drunk. Phillip is the campaign manager for the four Democratic candidates running for Town Council and Mayor. Guess who’s running the Republican campaign? You know him. Yes, Uncle Bob, isn’t that ironic? Which goes to show that they both ran respectable campaigns because they’re STILL friends! And we’re all going out to dinner this weekend to celebrate it being OVER!

DD outtake #402

Posted by laurie on November 7, 2011

I’ve been procrastinating on the calendar and would like your help in picking out 13 photos. Actually, twelve because I’ll repeat this month’s photo of Clayton, Spenser and Scooter, which I love so much. Post or email the dates. I have a special days signup almost ready to go and just have to get the PayPal page set up. 2012, here I come!

The Nut(cracker) Suite

Posted by laurie on November 4, 2011

The other day, Susan (In DE) asked if Stanley is always on high alert. I’d say for the most part, yes, he is. Unless he is practicing ballet. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Woof

Posted by laurie on November 3, 2011

Despite the fact that our neighbors have never complained about the barking, I get tense anytime it lasts for longer than a minute or so. Stanley is pretty good about coming in when he’s called, but Sherman can’t hear so calling doesn’t work. If it’s dark we can turn the outside lights on and off several times, and that occasionally brings him in. Fortunately he doesn’t bark much for the fun of it, unlike his brother. Yes, Stanley, that’s you I’m referring to. Now please be quiet.

In the shadow of the fruit tree

Posted by laurie on November 2, 2011

That’s right, the only remaining snow in central New Jersey is on our picnic table. But my friend Courtney (Tootsie and Buttercup) still has no power, so I’m grateful for every kilowatt of available electricity. Did you know that solar panels are useless when covered with snow and/or during a power outage? Phillip threatens to shovel the roof the next time it snows.

Paging Carl Linnaeus

Posted by laurie on November 1, 2011

If you followed yesterday’s comments you’ll know that there was a slight difference of opinion regarding the taxonomic classification for the tree that fell down in the snow. I called it a cherry tree while Phillip insists it’s an apple tree. Last night was spent listening to Phillip replace “cherry” for “apple” in phrases like “a cherry a day keeps the doctor away…” I hate to admit he was right, it was my silly mistake. However, there will be no gloating here today, sweet hubby. Just remember who has the camera when you’re in the hot tub.
