Too hot to play!

Posted by courtneayparsons on April 17, 2012

The mid-April heat wave we’ve had here in NJ left me with three beagles who were too pooped to pop yesterday! With temperatures in the low 90s, the most activity we saw from them was the occasional walk from the couch to the back yard to see if the world had cooled off to a sensible temperature.

Of course, it’s never to hot to huddle up on the couch…

Of the three beagles, Stanley definitely has the most energy. Between naps, he stood on guard…watching the back yard vigilantly for signs of fun.

(We did manage a short walk with just the three beagles last night…once the sun was down. I’m hoping we haven’t missed our shot at another pack walk, but my friend is out of town for the next couple of days…perhaps we’ll be able to squeeze one in on Thursday night before the boys go home on Friday!)

If the AC is on, you can always huddle up on the couch! Even with the AC, it was too warm last night fo two humans and a beagle in the people bed (Jordan — Josie prefers her dog bed, or the cooler floor in the hallway). I finally gave up at 3am and went to the guest bedroom for a little air, and to a place where no beagles would lie on my legs.

It was really warm here in California yesterday, and it’s going to be even warmer today. Not 90s, but definitely warm enough to get the tongues out on the beags.

Wasn’t warm enough for me on the job (83 miles south of my house)… A little place called Carpinteria 12 miles south of Santa Barbara……. I’m hoping to see at least 70 today…. Not sure what it was at the house, but the pups were all in good spirits when I got home.

Wow, Carpinteria! I grew up in Camarillo, and Carp was our favorite beach until we got old enough to leer at the surfers down at the Rincon in Ventura.

And an 83-mile commute – that’s pretty tough. Hope it’s not all on PCH!

We live north… Santa Maria area…. My hubby commutes to SB daily, while my commutes are project based… Although I did a two year stint working out of my companys Camarillo office while on a project in Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park….
My Current project ends just north of the rincon…. And I should be back north in about 2 or 3 weeks 🙂

So cute! Stan has the greatest face when he is on alert.

It’s been in the 80’s until yesterday before the rain came. Our love to be out in the cooler weather, not so much the rain and/or damp weather. hahaha

Only in Minnesota we can have 78 degree one day then snow the next day. Sunny (our beagle) is confused what to do…hunt squirrels in the fenced backyard or snuggle under a blanket indoors.

I wish we would get consistently warm temps here in Wisconsin. We have a couple of really warm days, then temps go back into the low 50s again.

I love Stan’s “Red Alert” look!
