The fastest 8 days you can imagine

Posted by laurie on April 23, 2012

Hi! We got home Friday night. Uncle Bob picked up the boys from Camp Lawrenceville so they were waiting for us. Huge thanks to camp counselors Courtneay and Lance, not only for taking such good care of the boys but for posting during the week so we could check in on our iPad (which I heartily endorse as a vacation Internet device). We missed the boys but never worried about them.

Anyway, yes, it IS this beautiful! We had a wonderful time. Cathy and Judy came with us and we met up with some people from last year. Unfortunately I could only dive once due to a cold I got right before we left, but there was still not enough time to do everything. I read two books: a science fiction book called Triggers (a big meh!), and Anne Tyler’s new novel, The Beginner’s Goodbye, which was wonderful. The food was equally wonderful, maybe even more so, and the weather was B+/A-.

I remembered this couple from last year. By 8 AM, they’d dragged their chairs close to the water and spent the next 8-10 hours in full sun worship, getting up only to rotate their chairs, have lunch, and (to their credit) reapply sunscreen.

When not in his pup tent or out for a walk, Stanley was glued to my side this weekend. Don’t worry, Stan! We’re staying home!

I’m glad you had a wonderful time and got home safely. The entire DD family enjoyed the pix and postings Courtneay did for us while you were gone.

I bet the boys were glad to see you home! No matter how wonderful the temporary home is, they are always glad to be back in their own place with their own people!

Sounds like a great time was had by you and the boys. Home is always good! Until I noticed the pink bar on the person, I actually thought both of them were men…guess I need to clean my glasses!!

Welcome home! Glad you had a good time.

I thought it was a man too! The legs are shaved but he/she has a man’s belly. The face could go either way.

I, too, thought it was a guy, as I wondered why the strip. But, at least they applied sunscreen. Welcome home!!

I agree with Karen, I was just set on the “fact” that it was a guy, and wondered at the pink strip….until I read the update below….Thanks for clearing that up for me.

  4. Ahhhhhhhhhhh…. that looks so relaxing. Laurie , which resort did you go to ? I need a vacation ! Glad to have you back home. Besides the boys, we missed you too.

Welcome home, nothing like the greeting of our babies when they see us for the first time after our absence. Looks beautiful. Now back to the routine 😦

Welcome home! Glad you had a great time, that first picture is gorgeous (Especially after the hideously rainy weekend and drop in temperatures here on the East coast this weekend).

Nothing hideous about rain, especially after the drought!

We too have drought conditions across much of the UK, however it started raining last week and now we have floods in some areas! And we’ve hail and thunder too! The weather people are saying we might have rain for the next month – here in the UK when it starts raining it never knows when to stop!

Glad you had a great holiday Laurie and Phillip – we were on holiday last week in Dorset (near the English South Coast) – not as exotic as Jamaica but the Beags came with us and had a wonderful time on the beach!!

Welcome home. Beautiful beach! Wonder if we could arrange a beaglefest there? 🙂 Sweet picture of Stan, I don’t think they sleep as well when their pack isn’t all together.

Love the picture of the pup…in full tent immersion mode. Too adorable. I bet they missed you like crazy. Will they show continued appreciation of your presence? Hmmm….

As to the bar…It took me a minute to figure out what that was for too. Duh…LOL. What resort did you go to?

Welcome home – unbelievable how fast vacations go, isn’t it? We are still on ours in Destin, FL. The beaches are beautiful, the weather is sunny, and we are sooooo relaxed. But I do miss my Spunky! Some people came in to the condo unit next to us with a beagle puppy last night – or so my husband says – I have yet to see it. I heard it yipping during the night, though – beagle or not, it’s definitely a puppy!!

Update – it’s not one, but two beagle puppies in the condo unit next to us! They are wild and full of energy and falling all over each other and absolutely adorable. And they make me glad I have an old dog!

Aww.. kind of a taste of home! I miss mine terribly when I travel, but at least when I visit my Mom, I get to see my sister’s two dogs. She has cocker spaniels- not quite the same as beagles, but they have big ears and like to cuddle so it works.

Laurie, next time you go on vacation, ask me about book recommendations! I know some good ones.
