  1. A little prayer this morning….Lord help my neighbors not be upset by Lily’s barking. I had a choice, find her and get her back into “her room” and not vote, or trust her today that she is too tired from a weekend of swimming and not getting her puppy napss to be outside today barking and go vote before work. I choose voting today as opposed to finding Lily. I’m sure she’ll be ok, it’s just that today is the first day that she will be out of her kennel all day with access to outside with her big brother Jake. I sure hope he keeps her in-line!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend and stayed safe. Thanks Phillip for serving!

  2. Lilly swims ? WOW I tried all weekend to get my two to even get near the pool. They won’t come with in 5 feet. I have two chlorine floats – one dolphin and one whale and they bobb up and down a bit and my two both bark at them and run to the side of the pool they are floating to- but still don’t get too close- just in case they are alive 🙂
I tried taking Holly out on to a float – but she would have none of it. Both Buddy and Holly laid all day on the hot cement just watching us. I don’t know how they could stand it. We were so hot and humid this weekend.

I hope Lily is a good girl for you today.

    • Lily doesn’t go in the pool on her own. She is picked up and held for a good 15-20 min until she stops shaking. I make both dogs go in the pool a few times each summer so they learn where the steps are. When Jake was a pup, he was pushed in the pool by my sisters beagle and he didn’t know how to get out. The next year (the next time they saw each other) Jake returned the favor and pushed my sister’s beagle in the pool. Again he didn’t know how to get out so both times we were fishing beagles out of the pool–in reality they probably both fell in but the story if much better if they pushed eachother in!). Jake learned that he could stand on the top step and cool off so he came in on his own, but Lily needs some convincing. She is a good swimmer! Even though she looks like a drowned rat when she gets out. Here is a video of her swimming from last summer…

(So far no phone calls so I’m assuming she is asleep and being good!)

Thanks for the video! She did a good job. We don’t have a pool, so it’s not really an issue. They don’t like their baths, but yet Onyx will stand out in the rain. So I don’t know if they can swim or not.

I like the story about the beagles *pushing* each other into the pool!

Yeah, my dogs don’t swim. A couple of them (I’m looking at you, Gomez) have fallen off the dock, but no intentional water beagling.

Our two will swim very occasionaly but only in calm water (a lake or slow moving river). Neither will go into the sea deeper than their elbows but they do like rock pools, especially if the water’s been warmed up by the sun! Last year on holiday JB jumped into what he thought was a shallow rock pool but it turned out to be deep and he had no choice but to swim! He came out and shook himself several times and rolled in the sand to dry off – you’d have thought he’d swum the Atlantic rather than a few feet!
