Oscar and Spencer ~and~ Princess and Milo

Oscar, on the left, and Spencer, on the right

This shows their personalities perfectly.

Oscar, long and lanky, seriously intent on the food in my hand. He is obsessed with The Ball and we have to hide it from him after he works himself up in a frenzy. He sits with his hind legs straight out (which you can kind of see in this picture) and if he is on a smooth surface he just slips down on his face. I’ve never seen a dog sit like that, I call him Super Freak.

Spencer, shorter and built like a tank being is just an affectionate goof ball. Happy to be with us no matter where. Just follows me from room to room and lays under my desk in my home office while I work. He is obsessed with paper and will eat paper towels all day long if I let him. We’ve had to move all the paper waste baskets on top of the desks. I call him The Velcro Dog.

Carolyn writes:

Here is a picture of my beloved kids Princess (on the left) and Milo (on the right) who passed away recently. Princess (13 years old) who had liver cancer and Milo (14 years old) who had bladder cancer. I missed them so much and love them so dearly. Now we have four kids (beagles) all rescue dogs who we love all of them very much. Starting from the left – Peanut – 3 years old, Snoopy – 8 years old, Bella – 4 years old and Odie 7years old. (Oops! Coming on Tuesday — Laurie)

Love these pictures. So sweet. Carolyn, I’m so sorry for your loss, but bless your heart for rescuing 4 (!) angels who needed homes. Such sweet faces.

Have you ever seen a happier looking dog than Spencer?!!! What a smile!

Carolyn, your babies were so beautiful and I can only imagine how much you miss them, but I’m sure you’re having such fun with your new babies!

These two images capture perfectly the essence of beagleness. What lovely dogs!

  4. Thank you all for your wonderful comments and bless your heart!

Love the pictures, thanks so much! They are all beautiful. The only way I can get mine in the same picture is if I bribe them with treats. LOL

    All four Beags look gorgeous!

So sorry for your loss, Carolyn, gosh knows we’ve all been there… but WOW four new babies to love! Can’t wait to see the pictures…

Donna; so nice to see Spencer & Oscar! Its so great to see the crazy pups that everyone talks about here…

(Shotzy is TOTALLY BALL CRAZED, so I know what you mean about Oscar and The Ball (love the initial capital letters) and Bartles, like Spencer, LOVES to eat paper towels… if one drops on the floor, he’s there shredding it… we’re lucky, knocking on wood, that he hasn’t figured out there’s more paper type products in the wastebasket in the master bathroom)

I especially love that you both got them to sit together for the pictures! I can only catch mine “together” when they’re napping or lazing about …

Oh my! more beautiful beagles. Those faces make me smile.
Looking forward to the pics of Snoopy, Peanut, Odie and Bella.

I just want to hug all these lovely beagles πŸ™‚
All the anecdotes about them are great too as Dylan has many of these traits. How boring life would be without beagles around!

I’m loving all these beagles. Donna, my Gunner does the same thing as Oscar, he’ll scoot back to where there is carpet so he can sit and not do the splits all the time!

Beagles are the cutest dogs! No matter what anyone says!

  12. Thanks for your comments. I have wonderful boys, but every once in a while I say “what was I thinking about getting another beagle, then two!

Oscar threw up mud, dirt and grass this morning and Spencer had blood coming out of his rear yesterday morning. Life with Beagles. Luckily my vet is right across the street from the Dog Park.

Spencer has some sort of growth/sore in his rectum area. It become semi-detached and started bleed a lot more than usual. The doctor cleaned the area out and now we are looking at a possible scope and cutting the sore out. This whole episode has been going on for quite a while. His blood work looks good, it isn’t cancer and he acts like a puppy, so he is very healthy. I’ll keep you updated.

Yes, there were treats involved with this picture. It wouldn’t of happened without food. And Anne, so Gunner is a Super Freak too? Oscar freaks out everyone at the Dog School on Saturdays when we do the sit stays.

I’m very glad to hear that it’s not cancer, Donna. Your two boys are SO-O-O precious!

Princess and Milo must have been such darlings to have around. What a great way to honor their memories by adopting four more beagles. Best of luck to you with these four-legged angels!

I couldn’t comment yesterday so I hope you see this. They are beautimus! Love the look of them…so intent. Oscar has a very unique look to him, very expressive too. Thank you for sharing this. Hope everyone’s butt and tummy are good today.

wow – you could be talking about my beagles Trooper and Lucy instead of Oscar and Spencer – Trooper sits with his legs out also – always wondered if it was uncomfortable for him to sit the other way but vet couldn’t find anything wrong – glad to know he is not the only one. And Lucy wakes up loving life – I also call her my little goofball – no fear and nosense – she follows us everywhere – guess she’s afraid she’s going to miss something. Just love my beagles!

Carolyn, Thanks for sharing and it must be such a hard loss…and now you have a house full. They do that to us, make it so that we have these big spaces that only other beagles and honorary beagles can fill. Perhaps it’s evolutionary…sort of a perpetuation (and eventual world domination by) the Beagle species through benevolent dictatorship and love. πŸ™‚
