Thursday report

Posted by laurie on November 1, 2012

A quick check-in while we have Internet access – only in the early AM. We continue to be fine, and grateful it wasn’t worse. Yesterday Phillip cordoned off the living room with tarps and with a fire going it is 68 degrees vs. 58 in the kitchen. He is taking good care of me! We brought the Aero-bed downstairs and slept in the living room. The boys like their new dog bed. Thank-you so much for your thoughts and prayers and concerns!

I admire that you and your family are making the best of the situation! Just know that so many people across the nation are thinking of you. Be safe!! Couple extra hugs for your sweet beagles!!

Wow – Philip is SO handy with so many things! You and the boys are being well cared for.

I BET Stan and Shermie love the Aero-bed, especially in the living room. You may have to check on-line to see if they make these beds in doggie size for the holidays!

Continue to be safe, and check in when you can.

As Laurie said, we are OK. it’s basically like luxury camping. Laurie is a trooper, last night we had bar-b-q grill made pizza. It was good. The big thing in NJ now is gas. only a few gas stations have power. lines are 50-100 cars long. a separate line for generator gas. I’m at work so i have internet. Thanks for all your comments.

So glad you are doing well Laurie and Phillip! We got schwacked here in Norfolk too but I still haven’t seen the entire roof to check for damage yet. Lots of branches up there though. Yikes. I got 7.3 feet of water but none of it in the house. Just underneath. So…I’ve got fans going down there and I’ll drag in more sand later. Overall, super happy it wasn’t worse and keeping all of you up there in my thoughts!

Wow Christy, I’m glad your place is okay too. I guess I didn’t realize you were in Norfolk which I heard got hit pretty good.

Glad you’re hanging in there and that things are mostly under control. I’m still sending lots of good thoughts eastward.

Captain Siding, you are long overdue for a promotion, since you have been ‘mentioned in dispatches’. Bravo. Glad everybody is coping. Yesterday, we had trick or treaters–our area of Bay Ridge is in Zone C–but it was just neighborhood Children, with parents who were home from work. One Dad dressed as a Wolfman, and Penny threw a total fit at him–fur rising on her back; fluffed out tail and her enraged ‘Aroooooo’ with the Elvis lip curl.
