Turkey recap

Posted by laurie on November 26, 2012

There were three other dogs at Thanksgiving (Levi, Elizabeth and Vous) but it was pretty much impossible to get a picture of all of them together. Needless to say, this one best represents the canine Thanksgiving experience. The boys were well-behaved, even Stanley.

The pies were well-received and the apple in particular was quite good. It was placed right next to me and I couldn’t help but clean out the stray pieces of apple and crust. I read a funny Thanksgiving quote: “Don’t forget to turn your scales back ten pounds tonight.” We picked up more brush on Friday (calorie burner) and on Saturday we went to a wedding. The GPS took us to the wrong church in the wrong town but we managed to find our way with a good 30 minutes left in the ceremony.

As you might have guessed, there will be no calendars this year. I couldn’t quite get it all together. Sorry!

Your beautiful boys and ‘Don’t forget’ quote gave me my morning dose of smile! Thank you!!

I agree! And no worries about the calendar, I swear this year has been a mess on so many fronts for a lot of people. In addition to the “Turn your scales back …” I have another joke about that: I got on the scale Sunday morning, so this is after Thanksgiving and days worth of leftovers and going out to eat as well. Immediately I heard Neil Young’s plaintive voice crooning, “I see the needle and the damage done ….”

    Perfect Thanksgiving picture!
The boys look so sweet and Moses looks like he’s giving a helping paw….
If you’ve done a picture from that angle before, I swear I have posted in the past how much I love the kitchen layout ….
Sorry to hear no calendars this year, but completely understand!!!

My daughter took a great picture of Gizmo & Jack frogging on the kitchen floor. It’s on my timeline on FB. Nice that your T-Day went well! We had 13 hoomins and 3 Beagles(Gizmo, Jack & Ferris) and a Springer (Simon) for ours. Don’t worry about the calenders! There’s always next year…

Great picture. Thank you for mentioning about the calendars. I understand. This has been a crazy year for me too what with two knee replacement surgeries over the summer. Very hectic.

Why does The Cooking magazine with the turkey on the cover not bode well for the boys next year? (scary!) πŸ™‚

  6. Sounds like it was a fun Thanksgiving. They pies sound yummy. Glad to hear that they boys were perfect guests. Did they help clean up ? Too bad about the calendars for 2013. Last year’s was so awesome and you had so many calendar worthy pictures this year – but as the others also have said- it is completely understandable with the hurricane and loss of power for so long. I am so far behind with many tasks around here as well.

Is it just me, or was that kitchen designed by a beagle? Looks like a peckish dog could access the counters very easily! My dogs want to know where the Like button is for that feature.

Looks like Sherm and Stan are at the theater. Sorry to hear about the calendars, it has been one heck of a year. I’m going to take my calendar money and send it to my favorite beagle rescue. πŸ™‚

I noticed that at least one of the dogs must have been looking at that magazine about cooking turkeys!!
Our beagles, Sam and Sweetums, went to the doggy hotel where they accidentally gave them twice a day free romps with other dogs, needless to say they were exhausted about 4 days of playing and could hardly get off the couch!! The sad news is that our medically needy cat, Emma, who had diabetes as the result of prednisone for her inflammatory bowel syndrome became hyperglycemic(blood sugar unable to be read by the meter) while at the vets. She then suffered a seizure and her blood sugar had only come down slightly. The vet said she was miserable so gave her some valium. Emma has been through a lot so we decided to let her go. Unfortunately we were 4 hours away and the vet would leave to go out of town by the time we would have arrived. I did ask someone to take a last photo of Emma beforehand and that someone hold her. The vet tech who loved her was crying and said she would. As it turns out, there was the vet and 4 techs surrounding Emma as she left for the rainbow bridge. I know she is not suffering but there is a hole in our life now from the loss.

How sad, so sorry for your loss. Hugs to you and your family and to the vet and vet techs who took care of Emma

Emma was surrounded by some very nice and caring people. You were so thoughtful, clearly putting Emma’s needs before your own.

You will always miss Emma, but take comfort in knowing she was surrounded by loving people at her passing. Much sympathy to you and the vet techs who took such good care of her.

I am sorry for the loss of Emma. How comforting though that while you couldn’t be there, she was still surrounded by love.

So sorry about your loss of Emma. I had a cat who was diabetic too. I know how stressful that can be.

I am very sorry for your loss of Emma. Bless the hearts of the vet and all of the vet techs, especially the one who loved Emma, for helping her cross the rainbow bridge. It is hard to imagine a more difficult job.
