“Sherman, if you’re a good boy (and you always are), I’ll let you sniff the salad.

“I said SNIFF!”

How in the world did he only get one little piece of cheese?

I get the feeling that he’d rather be sniffing (and sampling) the roast turkey.

Shermie’s mama always used to tell him to be polite when offered a treat. Take just a little bit so that others may have some, too. On the other hand, I do hope that we are witnessing him taking a tiny shred of carrot, not dropping it back into the bowl after discovering it wasn’t cheese, just carrot. We could use a video on this one.

Shermie’s face is absolutely adorable!!!!! And great pictures (as were Wednesday’s)…

I re-read yesterday’s post, and Scott (Scout’s “dad”) mentioned Scout not eating yesterday…. Of our 4 dogs, Bartles is the only hound, and the only one that I worry about over-eating… Bartles the Basset, like Beagles, will eat until he explodes. That being said, for some odd reason, Bartles is learning to listen to our commands (ie, when he’s eaten enough at dinner time and my husband commands him to leave it alone … “you’ve had enough”… Bartles will actually stop eating… WEIRD!) Okay, we do have to say it more than once, but generally Barts will stop eating. Sometimes he lies down with his head next to the bowl that still has kibble in it, and he looks absolutely pathetic… Some days Bartles doesn’t seem to want to eat dinner (typically it’s a day that I work after their dinner time, or Bartles’ tummy is making really weird noises like he got into something during the day and has an upset tummy)….and sometimes it happens at breakfast (ie like on a weekend when we sleep in and they don’t get their food right at 5:00 am) …
Maybe Scout was just confused by being “served” breakfast in the bedroom? Or the noise of the workmen? But he did eat, so I wouldn’t be too concerned 🙂

A couple of weeks ago Henry was experiencing “gurgling guts” and had to be persuaded to eat his meals. The vet did a senior blood panel on him to see if anything showed up. Turned out he had a high white blood count, indicating some type of infection. He was put on an antibiotic for a bacterial infection and just finished the last of the pills this morning. He’s been eating well since he started the antibiotic.

I do buy different kinds of canned food to put over the boys’ kibble morning and night, and sometimes they just don’t like the kind of canned food I’ve selected at the moment. I bought a couple of cans of California Natural (which was new for them), and both Cody and Henry turned up their beagle noses at it. (Believe it or not, my beagle boys do have some kinds of food they don’t like!) Usually they will happily chow down on Wellness canned food and the Halo Spot’s Stew canned food.

The rest of Henry’s blood panel results came in just fine, thank goodness!

That reminds me of the beagle on Letterman who played dead in his owner’s arms. Same position! Cute!

I was impressed that it is one snibble of cheese and he is not wearing any on his nose!!
