John and Patti write:

We had a beagle for 12 years who we lost to cancer a couple of years ago. We decided it was time for another beagle. Beasley was born October 16th and we bring him home next week, and I’m sure things will be chaotic for awhile. We have not told the “queen mother” (our 12 year old yorkie, Sadie) about the new arrival yet, but I’m sure she will waste no time taking charge.

What an angel! Welcome to the BOTW community, Beasley. He is a total doll!

  2. Congrats to John and Patti on the immanent arrival of Beasley. He is such a cutie. It “almost” makes me want to get one too. I just LOVE puppies and babies …but they are such hard work. I am at that stage in my life where I want to let some one else do all the hard work of raising a baby or a puppy. I may be a grandma some day (in a couple of years) and that is just fine with me – I just get to play with them and then give them back when they need changing. Same thing with puppies. I love to play with other people’s puppies – but think I will stick with adopting adult beagles. Now I just have to convince the family in to letting me adopt another one 🙂

Beasley is adorable!! Congratulations, John and Patti, we definitely need more updates once you get him home. Audrey, I agree, I like playing with puppies and kids and then giving them back to those who get to deal with all the mayhem 24/7. :-> Puppies in general have an easier time finding homes than adult and senior dogs, so I like to help the older guys out (and not deal with puppy mania and mess!). But I also agree with Lynne when she wonders what Judy was like as a puppy, it would have been fun to have known Josie and Jordan in that part of their lives (or even just have pictures).

Oh… I always wished I had Baxie as a puppy. Not just because he would have been an adorable puppy, but becuase I think I could have taken better care of him than the people who had him when he WAS a puppy…

I hear you, JC! I was thinking the same thing about Josie especially, she did not get a great start in the early part of her life. I think Jordan was probably much better off as a pup (and as active as he was at 9 when we got him, he was possibly an unbearable madman as a youngster, so maybe it’s good we didn’t have him!).

I remember when Cobalt and Onyx were that small! Welcome to the family, Beasley!

Off topic- One of my friends has a granddaughter who has two beagles she needs to find a loving home for. They are 7 or 8 I think, and she would like to keep them together. Her human daughter has tested for an extreme allergy to dog dander. I know they have come from a loving home. They are in the Columbus, Ohio area. I can’t take them- two is my limit for now, but if you know of anyone who can help, please let me know. You can email me at aprimeau at onebearcat dot com

Congratulations John and Patti on your Beasley!
    What a super darling beagle.
Looking forward to reading about allthe puppy happenings.

Beasley is adorable!! Thanks for the sweetness this morning. We haven’t had a Beagle pup since 1984. He was a handful, but one of the best dogs ever. All of our hounds after Preacher have been adult rescues, including senior citizens. Maybe when I retire, I will go into puppy mode again. Congrats!

Nothing cuter than a Beagle puppy. Love those big paws. He needs to grow into those paws. Congratulations on adopting Beasley. Puppies are a lot of work but what they pay off in love makes it all worth while. Our current Beagle Judy is the first one we adpoted as an adult. She is so beattiful now I can just imagine what an adorable puppy she must have been.

I think there’s not a better Christmas present than a puppy. Beasley beagle is adorable! You’ll have to take a picture of him in a stocking!

Oh my goodness, how cute! Congratulations!

My Lily and Gomez were 11 weeks old when my husband gave them to me for Christmas. He “had to run an errand” at 9:00pm on Christmas eve and came back with a wrapped box that had holes in it, so I knew something was er, afoot. I was *completely* surprised to see not one but TWO adorable beagle pups looking up at me.

      They’re still looking at me!

Oh my goodness – so much cuteness!! Spunky was just 8 weeks when we got her – miss the puppy breath and puppy belly and adorable clumsiness (though not some of the work involved 🙂 ). Welcome Beasley!

  14. Don’t forget the little sharp puppy teeth! I still have kitchen things I use that have bite marks in them from 4.5 years ago from Oscar. And my favorite green Ecco deck shoes have matching patches on the upper heals from Spencer, one at a time. I guess he couldn’t stand it that only one shoe had a patch.

But it doesn’t matter because Beasley will give you so much joy.

This is the time of year that the late great Rosco got very ill and I was just thinking about him last night now wonderful he was, and he was a very rascal puppy!

    • Susan in DE said

Oh yes, puppy teeth! And they like using them on your hands, too. Sometimes trying to pet them is like petting a cactus.

      • John Lundy said

Oh yes, we remember the shape little teeth! Buddy, our first beagle, came home as a puppy and within a couple of weeks, I had only one LL Bean penny loafer (they were new). He also ate paper money, but nothing small than a $20! We will post pictures as he grows.

Oh my, what a cutie! Makes me want another puppy. 🙂

  17. Peggy Michaels said

Beasley gave me Beagle puppy cravings, until I recalled that Penny was ‘a true fiend” ( her doting Grandma’s words). There is nothing as cute, loving and funny as a Beagle.

  18. Carol, Libby's mom said

I love the name too! Beasley the Beagle has a nice ring to it. Congratulations on your new little pal.

OMG! CUTE OR WHAT! I am so glad you are now able to accept another beagle into your lives. (I’m jealous!) 🙂
