Laurie’s in the Hospital

Posted by laurie on January 30, 2013

This is Phillip. Laurie is doing well. It’s 8:20, I left her at 10:00 last night. She was more or less comfortable and had her complete wits about her. Yesterday at about 11:00 AM she began to has severe abdominal pain. As it grew she drove home. Eventually it became so bad we called 911. She was brought into the hospital and a CT showed that her bowel had twisted on itself. This called for emergency surgery. They found a portion of her bowel had to be removed. They reattached the two good ends. At this point, barring complications, she should make a complete recovery. Initial estimate was a one week stay but that can vary. I’ll keep you informed. Thanks for all your well wishes.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. My son has Crohn’s disease and this last simmer had part of his small intestine removed. So we know a little of the pain and the process you are going through. We have often said that it was too bad we couldn’t bring Lucky (our beagle girl) for visits to the hospital because his recovery would have been that much quicker!! Get well soon, heal fast!

Will Laurie come home in a full body cast to keep Beagle feet off the surgical site? I know how much the boys love her and will want to be close when she returns. All kidding aside, we wish you a speedy recovery and wish the best for Dr. K and family.

OH NO. Laurie – get well soon. Dr K and the beagles will be so lonely without you at home. I believe all Hospital should have a ‘pet visitation’ area for well behaved pets to come visit. I said behaved and no quite, because they would never let a beagle in after my two were there. 🙂

Keep us updated and you are all in our prayers.
