Rehab Day 1

Posted by laurie on February 5, 2013

Laurie has now transferred to my hospital to begin Rehab. I think the goal is to strengthen her stomach muscles so she can bend over to feed the boys. She is doing well. It’s 11:40 and so far she has not needed pain meds.

    Thanks for the update, Phillip…

For knee surgery at least, physical therapy was key… I presume the rehab will be key for you, Laurie…. Especially so you can bend over to feed the boys!
And we know you’ll get EXCELLENT care at Phillip’s hospital!

Don’t forget that in addition to bending over to feed the boys, Laurie needs to be able to — *ahem!* – pick up after the boys.

Hooray to Laurie in this big positive development in her recovery! And I’m sure Phillip is grateful that his commute time to visit with her has been reduced dramatically as well. :->

That’s true about picking up, Susan. What goes in must come out. My dogs want to contribute some practice turds!

I can assure you there is no shortage of practice doots out here in Beagleland!

I’m glad to hear Laurie is well enough to begin her rehab therapy. It’s great to know that all priorities are in place. OF COURSE she needs to strengthen her stomach muscles so she can feed the boys! What could be more important than that? πŸ™‚

    Hope all goes well!

Yea, beagle boys always come first….glad the priorities are still straight.
Feel better Laurie! Thanks for the updates Phillip!

  6. When my mom was in Rehab for her hip surgery she said she didn’t want to go home because the food was so good. If it hadn’t been for my father she probably would still be there!! ha ha.

Best wishes, Laurie, for speedy rehab. Thanks, Phillip, for the updates. Patience, boys, Mommy will be home soon.

Super goal and your strength will keep you from falling as it works on your core. I know your boys can hardly wait for Mom to come home!

  9. Yippee for Laurie ! You are in the home streach now

I have some experience with a Wound-Vac, as my husband had one for months. If you need any advice or moral support, please let me know. His wound was a lot more extensive than Laurie’s, and we had some harrowing moments. The alarm had an unpleasant tendency to go off in the middle of the night.

But mainly, like everyone here, I’m happy to know that Laurie is moving forward and recovering well.

Great news about the need for pain relief lessening πŸ™‚
Make the most of the rehab, Laurie so it won’t be long before the ‘walkies’ can recommence!

Laurie, Here’s to a short stint in Rehab, and very cool that Dr.Phillip will be close by too!!! For some reason, I’m thinking of those old Abs of Steel videos popular a few years back… πŸ™‚

Laurie, I hope your stay in rehab is short and sweet. And I would think that staff doctor you know should be able to sneak the boys in for a visit πŸ™‚

So glad to hear that Laurie is doing better. Continued good wishes!

Laurie, will your rehab let the boys visit you? Even Mom’s place let Penny visit, as long as we got paper from vet, and told nursing station when Penny was visiting.

Laurie, Maybe Dr. Phillip can set up SKYPE so the boys could visit. Daddy feeding them in just not the same. Glad you’re feeling better. Continued progress in your recovery and continued prayers. We are so happy πŸ™‚
