The welcoming committee

Posted by laurie on February 11, 2013

I am settling nicely into my rest and recuperation phase. Phillip was home most of each day on Friday through Sunday. We ordered groceries online and he picked them up and put them away. He’s really stepping up to the plate and taking over my household chores. Sitting up straight and standing both hurt, a pulling on the incision, but slouching on the couch or laying down are fine. I’m doing some limited slouching at the computer. I feel pretty strong, but last night I made soup for dinner and it completely knocked me out. So now I know my limits. I’m sleeping just fine, friends are coming to visit, and life goes on. Happy to be here!

We’re so happy you’re here too!!!
Loved the video … The boys are definitely over the moon to have you home too.
    Sending you healing recuperating thoughts!

  2. I love the way that Sherman and Stanley greated you. There was no wild barking, but I loved the little “whine”. Then it looks like they both went up the steps to Phillip as if to say “See – Mommy is home”. Why aren’t you greeting her too ? ” Then one ran back down to greet you..think it was Sherm- but Stan waited his turn, and then approached you separately. I am soooo glad that you were not bowled over and even more glad to hear that you are taking it eash. It was a ” soup:” type of weekend here too. I made potato soup on Saturday -followed by broccoli cheese soup last night. My son was home for the weekend and it was so nice to have help shoveling. We got about 7 inches of snow here.

I loved the video of you and the boys. Stay warm and rest up. Happy cuddling !

Oh my goodness how sweet. It brought tears to my eyes! Such a nice homecoming greeting. I agree – they both seemed to go to Phillip to say She’s Home!! I love it. Welcome home, Laurie. Rest easy.

  4. Welcome back! So good to see that you are feeling better. I loved the video of the boys what a well-behaved and enthusiastic welcome home, mom!

Audrey is right about soup days. I made pea soup in the crock pot and it was delicious. Happy to share the recipe if anyone wants it.

What a great video, and so glad that you’re recovering nicely, Laurie! It’s definitely good to quickly identify your limits and then mind them while you heal. It was a soup weekend here as well. I made a big batch of curried red lentil and apple soup. Sounds better than how it turned out, unfortunately …. kind of on the bland side. But a little Crystal’s hot sauce and a little blob of sour cream will fix just about anything. :->

If its an easier recipe, I’d love it… I’m not a “Worst Cook in America”, but I’m not highly skilled either… I love to make stuff in our slow cooker… And BBQ…

The cyber police won’t allow us to view videos so I am anxious to see your homecoming. Rest easy and enjoy!

Aw, that is so sweet. Aren’t the happy tails the best reward for being home? Glad you are resting well and that you are not pushing yourself too hard. Soup – so comforting, but sometimes just a frozen pot pie out of the oven is easier. That is my recovery go to….. Marie Calendars Chicken Pot Pie….

What is your current reading list? Do you need book suggestions?

Apparently I learnedly my beagle greeting techniques at Miss Laurie’s School of Beagle Management & Practical Involving* because that’s just how it goes down at our house, complete with the “Mommy’s home” announcements.

So glad to see you home!

    * I did. On line!

Just watched the video – there’s nothing like a Beagle welcome is there?!!!! Rest up Laurie and get fully fit soon. Did you guys get the snow over the weekend? We’ve been hearing about a huge storm hitting the North East coast and saw footage of Massachussets (sorry if that’s spelt wrongly!) on the news, but no mention of New Jersey. We had a couple of inches of snow in Derbyshire last night, but nothing like the US is experiencing. Keep safe and warm everyone!

    • I live a little bit east of Laurie – more near the Jersey Short ( about 1/2 hour away ) and we received rain most of the day on Friday and it only starting snowing around 4 pm. We received approx 7 inches. In higher elevations and more north – towards northern Jersay and New York State and Connecticut – they were the hardest hit – with up to 30 inches of snow or more . I think that Laurie may have a bit more elevation – so it might be a tad bit colder – but I am guessing the snow was not too terrible where they live also.

“Alpha Happy. Alpha safe. Pack happy. Pack safe. Crate happy. Crate safe.”
It’s a bit of a mish mash of quotes from R. Crais’ “Suspect”…
In hind sight and having finished the book, I loved it.
