There’s Waldo!

The packing is nearly complete. We have a checklist for this trip so it’s not too difficult albeit time-consuming. One of the grad students in the lab heard I was going away and offered to house/dog-sit. I took her up on the former, but the boys are going to Camp LaBolle, where they will be spoiled rotten along with Buddy and Holly.

P.S. The health insurance statements are coming in and the amount billed (as opposed to the amount the provider receives) is over $100,000 already! I only owe a few (phew!) co-pays.

  1. I love the way Stan is looking longinly at all of the clothes on the bed. My two sweethearts feel it is their duty to mark all of my freshly laundered clothes with their dog hair- in case there is any doubt that I belong to them. Same thing for when I try to pack a suitcase. I take little bits of them where ever I go. They even try lying in the suitcases, in the hope that I don’t notice and take them with me. Buddy and Holly can’t wait for Stanley and Sherman to arrive!

I almost missed Sherm on the bed! How funny. Laurie, I hope you have an amazing time and it’s peaceful, restful, and renews your spirit and body.

Hey, that’s MY bed! OK–I guess it’s OK to use it…
I feel smug and self-righteous–I was the first to mention a 6-figure bill for your “colon experience!” Make sure you share the final total.
    And have FUN!!!!

Laurie and Phillip – wishing you both a marvelous and restful trip!
    Love your little helpers 🙂

Audrey: I’m covered in dog hair daily. Sometimes cat hair too 🙂
It doesn’t seem to matter how often we sweep and vacuum….

We live with dog and cat hair every day – on our clothes, the furniture, everything. It’s a losing battle . . .

Ditto, enjoy! We head off to Florida on Saturday for a week of visiting various relatives. The young engaged couple coming to stay with Josie at our house received their “training” on Saturday, and passed with flying colors. Josie had Amanda petting her head the entire time, cooing over how adorable she was. David remembered staying with Josie and Jordan a few years ago, including having Jordan push him out of the bed in the middle of the night, so he’s not fooled. :->

Sherman looks quite content among the packing. As for medical bills, having had both my knees replaced last summer I can say yes thank goodness for insurance but those copays can add up too. My total bill was no where near yours but it did cost me quite a bit in copays. Too bad we do not have a system like the UK where medical care is free at the point of service. I have a friend there who had hand surgery and 5 months later he was still out of work and still getting physical therapy at no cost to him. For my two knees, two separate surgeries, one in May and one in July I was out a total of 16 weeks. If I was in the UK I probably would have gone back in December rather than September as I did. I do think it is good to get moving faster so it is probably better to do it the way we do it but there is also something nice about not having to go to work and just being able to concentrate on physical therapy. And they do not have to use up all their sick and vacation time on medical leave, unlike here. I went back with nothing to a job I have been at 13 years. Takes time to save it up too to be able to take a real vacation. Of course I think the ideal would be to be able to put off the kind of surgery I had until you retire. That way recovery can take as long as it takes and you don’t have to worry about returning to work. I had to do it when I did. So much pain and hardly able to walk.

Laurie and Philip – Have a wonderful and restful vacation, knowing that Shermie and Stanley will be well cared for!

I took Henry to the vet again this morning. He was walking around all hunched up and looking totally miserable, and it turns out he has a pinched nerve! He’s now on Prednisone for the inflammation and Tramadol for the pain. I hope the little guy doesn’t have to go back for anything else before July, when he gets his vaccinations again.

Have a great time you guys, and say hi to all those Caribbean fishies for me! The beags will be well spoiled – er, cared for and your house watched, so you can really relax and enjoy your time in paradise. Can’t wait to see the epics!

    Feh. “Pics”, not epics.
