Open for discussion: June 4

Posted by laurie on June 4, 2013

I believe I took this in December of 2001. Clayton was on 7 weeks of crate rest due to what they thought was a spinal problem but which turned out to be an auto-immune disorder. He had several recurrences of it, all treated successfully with Prednisone. But at the time he went from crate to crate to outdoors on a leash. I had been laid off from work shortly after 9/11 and so I was able to take care of him all day. Some things (layoff) work out for the best.

What sweet boys. Every so often I get a “Beagle boy” memory of one of our beloved hounds from the past and it still chokes me up.

  3. So handsome- but I can’t imagine having three- two is quite enough- thank you !

Three is tough. I only have two hands for beagle noogies!

You have to be quicker with your hands, and bonk their little heads like you’re playing drums in a rock band! (But in a nice way. :->)

What I still can’t fathom is how Laurie was able to get so many good pictures of three beagles. I have pictures of my beagles, but very few with all three (or even two!) in frame.

Also, just wanted to say for probably the 100th time that even though I never met the Original Three in person, I really miss them. They, through the Daily Digital, got me through the 2 years when I had no beagles of my own.

I really love the idea of showing old pictures for these open discussions! But I am wondering, is Scooter sitting on Clayton in this photo?!? Sounds like something he would have done. It’s funny how through all the years of looking at these dogs they feel like family… ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree with Cathy, they definitely feel like part of my family. They got me through 9 years of not having a beagle (or any other dog).

My little Jack turned one on Saturday, unfortunately he got a trip to the vet for his birthday. He had been limping/not walking on his right hind foot for a week. Vet says he probably has a tear in the cruciate (sp?) ligament in his knee. 2 weeks of taking it easy and we get rechecked. Crossing my fingers for no surgery! He wants to go for a walk SOOOO bad!!!! I put on the sweater I often wear for our walks last night and he followed me around whining and running for the door as soon as I even LOOKED in that direction, poor puppy!

By the way, we made it up to him with a super special birthday supper and a “happy birthday” doggie cookie from a local pet store…..not to mention lots of snuggles!!!
