If I remember correctly, the actual culprit was that beagle in the back pretending to sleep.

  1. Don’t you just love the guility look that they have ? Did Scooter always look guilty – even though Spenser was the one who did the shredding ? It’s the same with Buddy and Holly. We will see Holly do something wrong, but Buddy is the one who always comes up and appoligizes. He always gets that guilty look. ( although maybe half the time he is the bad boy )

It’s too bad “Dog Shaming” wasn’t on facebook in Scooter’s day!

That happens at our house, too. I remember a few months after we got Jordan, there was bathroom trash strewn around the hallway, and he was walking around with toilet paper stuck to his foot, looking guilty. And Josie hadn’t ever touched the trash in the year and a half that she’d been with us. We found out otherwise when we saw toilet paper and other unmentionables emerging from a certain girl beagle’s backside when we went for a walk later that day ….

I didn’t know it was possible for a beagle to look so guilty! Too funny!!

Any household hints for removing urine and urine odor from a mattress? Woke up the other night to find a damp spot on the bed. First thought was that I must have left a wet towel on the bed, but then I caught the odor. I’m in the midst of packing to move and the house is in turmoil. Baci is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Or maybe it’s just that he’s getting older and losing a bit of control.

Any help is appreciated. Throwing out the mattress is not an option.

Check out all the odor control products at PetSmart – they have quite a few products that can help.

Nature’s Miracle works wonders. It’s an emulsifier, so it eliminates the urine scent so no other animal should mark that spot, Clean it first, and then spray generously with Nature’s Miracle. You can find it at PetSmart.

Nature’s Miracle, it has to dry before the smell completely disappears. Use it generously, so it soaks in to the fibers.

Absolutely, Nature’s Miracle. I like the advanced formula. To me, Scooter’s look said, “HEAVY REMORSE!!! :_(

Speaking of nervous breakdown…..Spunky, who for 12 years hasn’t paid any attention to loud noises, is now afraid of fireworks and thunder. Just since April. Last night someone shot off fireworks at around 9:00pm and she shook and panted for nearly two hours – couldn’t even get her to go out for her just-before-bed potty. So do Thundershirts really work? Not sure what to try, but am worried about her freaking out so much. Poor thing’s heart is going to give out at this rate…….. Plus I don’t get any sleep as I’m up worrying about where she is (she won’t stay on the bed with us when she’s panicking like this) and whether or not she’s going to pee in the house because she’s too scared to go outside. Advice?

A friend of mine has a chihuahua that is afraid of thunder and fireworks. She got him a Thunder Shirt and it worked well for him. Just be sure you put the shirt on the dog well before the noise begins to avoid association of the shirt with fear.

Ugh. I HATE fireworks season, and it is upon us. We got one huge explosion last night and it had the dogs torqued up for the rest of the evening. (It really infuriates me that fireworks illegal here, and yet people set them off with impunity – in the middle of the 6-lane road, in the public park, in their front yards and we just don’t have enough police to even respond).

I looked up Thundershirts last night too. I might try one for Lily – she REALLY shakes and freaks out.

Onyx has a thundershirt. Yes, it works. She used to pace during storms, pant loudly, and have to be physically touching a human. With the thundershirt, I can put it on her and she actually dozes off to sleep, on the other side of the room. We use it for fireworks too. Now, we tried it with Cobalt and his terrible anxiety- nothing. But he thinks he looks snazzy and likes wearing it.

My friend who introduced me to thundershirt has a small dog- he will actually go get his shirt and bring it to her to put on when it’s starting to storm!

Nothing says “GUILTY” better than a beagle.

Jodi & Huggy don’t care for fireworks but they don’t freak out. Barney wants to go out in the yard and try to chase them? duh Weather bothers them more. Ever since we had the hurricane several years ago. Now they “freak” , hide in the closet ,pace. Then repeat, and repeat, and repeat.. It’s so hot here I hate to put a “jacket” on them or me. Might have to during this hurricane season tho

Gee, just had that yesterday with us opening the door and one dog taking off down the hall to go under the bed. Couldn’t figure out what Sweetums (the original food driven dog) had gotten into but we had brought things out of the back of the car to fit in the bicycles. Ooooopppppssss!! Some dry cat food for cats with GI problems who needed to put on weight was in a ziplock bag…about 2 lbs of it!!! Guess Sweetums will have to go on longer walks!!!
