Aunt Rita

Posted by laurie on July 5, 2013

rita

This is, of course, Aunt Rita with two of her very favorite nephews (and her pink iPad). Does everyone have an iPad except me? Phillip has two iPads! One belongs to the Township and the other to him. I used the latter occasionally while I was couch-bound in February, mainly to reserve movies that I never watched. Rita watches whole movies on her iPad! But I do have an iPhone and an iPod and a Power Mac, so I’m not a complete Apple Luddite.

Lucky Aunt Rita to be schmoozing such sweet beagle boys!

I don’t have a “i” anything – no iPad, iPhone, or anything. Just a cell phone that allows me to make and receive calls – that’s it! (However, my car has a Bluetooth device so I can talk on my cell without holding it in my hand while driving!)

Hope everybody had a safe Fourth of July. Happy Friday!

Maybe it’s more of a guy thing. I have an iPhone but no iPad, yet the men in the house have iPads. A computer and iPhone are enough for me. FYI I love the fourth but Lucky hates all the noise and it takes 2-3 days for her to recuperate. Poor little stressed out beagle. Are there others out there who hate it as much as she does?

Yes! Though it’s new to us – this if the first year Spunky has cared and she, too, is a poor little stressed out beagle.

    • Scout does not like thunder, backfires, and fireworks! Usually hides in the bathroom, last night he resorted to the closet. In fact, now if it rains, he figures it’s going to thunder and into the bathroom. I’ve even put a doggie bed in the bathroom!

We only have iPods, nothing else Apple in my house. We ended up with Android phones which are fine, because we really only use very basic app functionality (It’s a phone … I use it to make and receive calls!). Being in corporate banking, we’ve always worked more with IBM PC-type computers and operating systems. The rest of my family, on the other hand, are all Apple all the time.

We’re fortunate with our beagles and fireworks/thunderstorms. Jordan used to get nervous if they were really loud or prolonged. Josie never seemed to mind, and now being partially deaf, it doesn’t even register with her. I wasn’t sure how Lady was going to be yesterday, but I was hopeful that she’d be fine, since she hasn’t reacted negatively to any thunder (and there’s been plenty of that recently). I took her for a pre-bedtime walk last night, and someone up the street was shooting off some really loud fireworks, and she didn’t even flinch. Just like honey badger, “Lady Beagle don’t care.” (Go look up honey badger on YouTube if you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s a viral video I had never heard about until last week [because I’m old, I guess!] but be forewarned about the language! We’ve pretty much figured out that you could just replace the words “honey badger” with “Lady Beagle” and it’s all true for her, too!).

Hello to Aunt Rita! What is distracting Stan in that picture? Anyway, I don’t have an iPad, but my nephew has one.

Luana (and Henry) happy belated Gotcha Day!!!
Laurie, you’re not alone … I have an iPhone as does my hubby (I’ve had mine 2.5 years and convinced hubby to get his last year… He wont go back to the droid!) and only Rick has an iPad … But i have two Nooks (first edition that Rick gave me three Or four years ago and the simple touch I bought in May) of course then the nook hd color went on sale a week later 😦 I would’ve bought that version and had a pseudo iPad 🙂
Update on pups cat and fireworks… JD spent the night barking his dang fool head off, Quincy slept as normal, the cat went under the bed when we went to bed around 9 pm, Shotzy laid on my lap in bed and was relatively calm- no shaking or drooling this year, and my petting her seemed to keep her calm… Until she got too warm and slept on her bed on the floor next to me, and Bartles the Basset was pretty calm too tho spent the night snuggled with Shotzy when she was on the bed, the in between me and hubby for the rest of the night… All is well here and Rick and I figure JD will sleep all day 🙂

  6. Holly slept through everything. Her ” place” is on top of the covers on my side of the bed at my feet. This is our 3rd Fourth of July with Buddy. the first two were great. Last night however he was glued to my side and shaking a bit. When I got out of bed to go to the bathroom and then in to the kitchen to get a glass of water – he was right with me and had to be touching my leg at all times. He usually onle cuddles for about 10 minutes with me in bed and then goes in to his cozy cave at the side of the bed for the rest of the night. Last night he spent the whole time cuddled up next to me under the covers. Both Buddy and Holly seem pretty normal this morning- Thank God.

  7. Two ipads, 3 iphones, 2 ipods, 1 mac book pro and 1 imac. Unfortunately the 3rd, and most recent iphone (mine) was run over by my husbands truck three weeks ago. I’d love to blame him, but it was really my fault. He was kind enough to “lend” me his unlocked phone until I figure out what I’m going to do. It sits next to my desk to remind me to be more careful.

We both stream movies and independent TV shows on the ipad from Netflix. It’s great! No commercials and if you fall asleep (who me?) you can pick up where you left off. And I guess you can even read on it like a Kindle, but I’m still reading the old fashion way
