Lazy Bonzzz

Posted by laurie on September 11, 2013

Here’s the routine: I get up between 5 and 5:30 and feed the boys. While they go out I make my coffee and bring it to my computer. Sherman comes back in and stares adoringly at me. I pet him for a few moments and then he’s done and runs upstairs. Stanley drops by to see if I might have some food along with my coffee (hardly ever) and then runs upstairs as well. Eventually I too go upstairs to get ready for work. And this is what I typically see: Sherman in a tight ball on the covers and Stanley completely or partially under the covers. Sort of look the phases of the moon. I call this the “waning crescent”.

Glad to know I’m not the only one who gets up between 5 and 5:30 and feeds the boys first thing! The face looking out from under the blanket is a familiar sight!

Oh isn’t is so hard to get ready and go to work…. They looks so cuddly and inviting when they do that…

Because of Gracie’s torn ACL two years ago – we had to make the bed a no puppy zone. Our George is very sad about that.

    Love the picture!
Our dogs run too warm and it’s still nice weather so no snugglies under the covers…LOve the “waning crescent” 🙂
My Darlin hubby is up at 3:15 and leaves the house by 5:00 am (construction )… For now, I’m up at 5 (feed the pups if Rick forgets and get my coffee too) and leave by 7ish… When my new project starts next week, I’ll be up with Rick and leave by 5:30…
Has anyone in the DD family heard of Wade Hayes??? I’m going to a concert tonight in Santa Ynez at a restauraunt (VERY SMALL VENUE) and can’t wait!
    Happy Wednesday!

Haven’t heard of Wade Hayes, but I just looked up some music videos on YouTube. Very nice! I’m not a big fan of country music, but he fits the profile of what I do like (Paul Brandt, Dwight Yoakum … not very much alike, but you know what I mean). Normally I like noisy stuff, like metal … and bagpipes! 😀

I love all music, except rap and funk (nightclub stuff)…
        And I love bagpipes too!
Wade was amazing last night although fairly short (about an hour or so). Sounds as good as 15 years ago…

How do you stop yourself from getting back in bed with them? Also, I used to get up at 4:00 am to feed Baxter. That was just when his internal clock said “feed me” and he would howl until I did – since I live in an apartment I had to do it or face the wrath of the neighbors!

Looks like your dogs have severe separation anxiety–NOT. When I was working I had to say goodbye to sleeping dogs. They’d give me that “Be off with you” look.

Ah, the morning routine! Love the waning crescent! Ours is similar, but different. :-> Josie usually stirs between 2am and 5am and needs a quick trip to the backyard. Alarm goes off at 5:15, Josie, Lady and I trundle down the street to pee on the German Shepherds’ lawn (well, they do … I don’t!), then we come back for breakfast. Josie then moseys out to the screen porch but comes back in for head scritchies while I have my coffee (with or without computer time), and Lady goes back to bed with Rob (curled up in tight little ball mode, like Sherm). Depending on if I head to the gym or not, Lady and I may go out for a longer stroll, or Rob will take her later. Josie also eventually heads back to bed for post-breakfast snoozies. And so it goes, 7 days a week!

5AM is breakfast time here as well. No one goes back to sleep until after Charlie and I both leave for work. Unless I lay back down that is. I forgot something the other day (yikes) and one was on the Lazyboy, one was on the sofa and one was on the bed. Tough life 🙂

  8. Princess (aka Lily) sleeps on a dog bed during the hot summer months (which means 9 months out of the year in Texas) and when she hears the alarm go off, she grunts and moves quickly to under the bed before the big bad bright light comes on and really disturbs her beauty rest. She only wakes up to eat otherwise she’d stay “in bed” until around noon! I want her life, such a lazy pup!

How adorable. Kramer would do that after dinner, especially if we had company. We’d finish dinner, and retreat to the living room. He’d look around and go upstairs to bed. Somehow, he Always knew when company was leaving and would “ask” to go out front on the zipline to see our company out. It was really, very sweet. Gandolf, he just kinda does his own thing. He’ll lay on the outskirts and be kept abreast of what is happening.

  10. Hi Laurie (see I spelled it right today). I’m still can’t believe I called you Lori yesterday.

Beagles and their routines. They all revolve around food and walks. What can I say.
