Camp report

I’ll stick to the fabulous four this week and next so Audrey and Kevin can see their kids while they’re in Italy. That’s Holly on the left and Sherman on his back. Buddy and Holly are wearing their guest collars and yesterday I bought a backup battery for Buddy’s collar of shame, since the one we have is several years old.

Here’s a close-up of Holly. She likes to stick her head under my arm when I’m at the computer to get some loving. The whole gang is sleeping in bed with us, moving in and out of the covers. Sometimes all four are under. I am an exceptionally sound sleeper so barely notice. (I think Phillip notices.) I just have one question – how do they breathe??

Kramer used to Love being under blankets. I have a picture of him and my Dad (who died just 2 weeks later). Kramer’s all snuggled up with Dad and you just see his little nose sticking out. My Dad used to always wonder that too, and would make sure his nose was uncovered. Very sweet.
And, it’s been a little chilly here (upstate NY). A 4 dog night is pretty close by! (You know, how many dogs you slept with indicated just how cold at night it was?)

I have a question… Is Holly a gentle girl who just gently puts her head under your arm???
Bartles pokes pretty forcefully with his cold wet nose when he wants loves … Which is about every 5 minutes 🙂
    Audrey- I hope you’re having a marvelous vacation !!!

Our George twists himself up in his blanket so tight he becomes a little burrito beagle boy. My mother worries herself about it when she house sits and will untangle him only for him to re-do all his work. Constant battle.

I guess the fabric is porous enough.

I’m supposed to be keeping Blue COOL because of his laryngeal paralysis. So what does he do? He gets on my bed and gets under the quilt!

I have always wondered the same thing and tried to make sure the nose was uncovered, even if it meant the bed looked like a complete disaster in the morning…

At our house, in Montana, we gauge the cold by how deep our Suzie burrows. We have had that same question, how can a little beagle breath when she is under layers of down and blankets? The answer is just fine, and only a tasty treat or biscuit will encourage her to come up for air!

Jordan would burrow, Josie isn’t interested. I don’t think Lady knows how, since in her previous life she was kept in a crate, so she’s really good at curling herself into a tight little ball. I think now that it’s getting chillier she’ll figure it out!

Holly is a really pretty girl – I can just imagine that little face under your mousing arm! Gomez and Lily like their blankies and sleep under the covers when it’s chilly. Mr. Peabody is learning the joys of a warm, soft place to sleep too, after roughing it for his first 6 years.

My beagles have been undercover beagles as well. Bode is parrot-like: if he can’t settle down in the evening, we make him go under his blanket and it’s just like covering the bird cage – he instantly quiets down!

I love the idea of a four beagle bed, but that could only occur after divorce or death of my husband. So I’ll stick with one beagle. 🙂

I have just one question – however do you all fit in the bed!!
Dylan has a duvet as his bed & loves to snuggle right under it, unbelievably cute to see just a paw, or nose tip poking out 🙂

JB sleeps on the bed, not in it! However we have a throw on the bed and when it’s really cold we pull that over the top of him and he snuggles up against us to keep warm. It works pretty well because we have a duck down duvet, which gets very warm – so much so that he often gets too warm and will jump across into the armchair at the side of the bed (which also has a snuggly blankie on it!!). Cassie prefers the doggy bed or the armchair; she will only sleep on the bed if she’s not feeling very well, or on holiday when she feels a bit insecure in a strange cottage.

It must be REALLY crowded, even in a king-sized bed like yours, to have two adults and four beagles all sleeping together (but also sort of fun!)

I have often wondered how they breathe. Louie loved getting under the covers and so does Brady. Huey couldn’t stand it but then he had asthma so that could be why. Ginger falls asleep the minute she hits the bed so there are no under the covers for her but she does love a pillow! Often fighting her Daddy for his pillow!!! Brady gets under the covers and starts reverse sneezing every night when he first burrows and then he is fine. But yeah, in and out all night long. It has become habit so I don’t notice as much as my husband.
