The spice of life

Clayton never met a dog bed that he didn’t like. This was a guest’s bed (I don’t remember who) and the guest was going home so I threw the bed and blanket down the stairs. Clayton did the rest. Pun intended.

Kiss me

Stanley’s stomach is back to normal, though he still has some leg/hip pain and won’t go upstairs on his own. As you can see, he is still seeking the security of his pup tent.

Hoping for good news about Trent. Beagles are prone to epilepsy, but vets usually don’t medicate unless seizures occur more than once a month. To Ron: Dr. Eric Glass at Red Bank is a superb neurologist according to Phillip, who became friends with him after Dr. Glass treated Clayton.

We dodged a bullet

Stanley got in his pup tent when we got home from the vet at around 5am yesterday, and didn’t leave until 4:30pm. He occasionally switched position and I kept checking to make sure that he was breathing. When he did get out, he was BACK! Begging for food and barking at the neighbors. He’s taking anti-nausea pills, Prilosec and something that coats the stomach. We have Tramadol for pain but he seems much more comfortable. We gave him a little bit of rice yesterday and this morning I’ll add a little boiled chicken. The scare seems to be over, but a little of the anxiety still remains. You know how that goes.

Best laid plans…

I had a post all ready to go this morning about how low the vet bill was last Friday. That was before we took Stanley in at 2:30 this morning. He’s okay, but it was scary. He had been having leg/hip pain since Saturday and I’d given him half an aspirin with his meals. He vomited three times in the night and could not get comfortable. I don’t remember the last time he threw up, so we decided to take him in, as our vet is open 24/7. They did an x-ray and did not find any blockage and the vet is pretty sure the stomach upset is due to the aspirin. His leg and hip were also normal on x-ray. They sent him home with a few meds and I will stay with him today. It was hard not to think about Clayton’s last illness, but Phillip and I are much, much calmer now.

By the way, instead of buying heartworm pills at the vet last Friday, I got two prescriptions which I sent in to Doctors Foster and Smith for a huge savings, only $128 for 12 months for the two of them, saving over $100.

2:30 PM update: Stan has been sleeping in his pup tent the entire day. He’s not allowed food, but had a drink of water about fifteen minutes ago and kept it down. I think we’re going to be okay.

Get out the wallet

We’re taking both boys to the vet today for their checkups. We should probably stop by the bank on the way to take out a loan. What with shots and blood tests and heartworm meds, it’s going to cost a ton of money. Take a guess how much, I’ll let you know on Monday.

This was a caption contest photo and the winning caption was something like, “Phillip – may I call you Phil? What do I have to do to get you to sign tonight?” Hilarious!

The Patootie

I really wanted to include this in the calendar but I took it with a camera that didn’t have enough megapixels to print it properly. Darn. This is one of Phillip’s all-time favorite DD photos.

I don’t know about you, but I find it pretty interesting to see all the different bedding combinations I’ve used over the years.

Thank goodness they’re self-sticking

I’m pretty sure this is how Michelle Obama got started: stamping postcards for her husband’s campaign. Phillip is running for re-election to the Town Council this November. He is very busy knocking on doors and strategizing with the other candidates. Because I was at the kitchen counter, Stanley refused to believe there wasn’t food involved and stayed to watch while I stamped postcards. Sorry, Stan.

I can’t talk with this bed in my mouth

Posted by laurie on October 4, 2013

Stanley didn’t unstuff Holly’s bed until a few days before they left. The rest of the time he could be found like this, her bed on top of his bed with the former in his mouth.

On another topic, drum roll please…I’ve decided to do a 2014 DD calendar. I couldn’t do it without Ron, who prints it for free, so everyone say, “Thanks, Ron!” I’m still in the planning stages so don’t have prices, etc. yet. You’ll be able to enter your special days, as before.

I was searching the comments for “calendar worthy” and found several potential photos, but I would also appreciate any suggestions from you guys. Indicate the date or the url of the post.
