Still life with Moses

Posted by laurie on December 2, 2013

Thanksgiving was in Connecticut this year at Phillip’s niece Gabrielle’s house. She and her husband Chad have a 3-year old and 1-1/2 year old twins. They had just come back from Florida and were determined not to travel again, so became the hosts instead. There were 14 adults, 5 children and 6 dogs, including Moses, who is getting old and prefers to lay on a couch all day. He is stuck like glue to Phillip’s brother Wayne and they spent most their time in the back room.

We stayed overnight at Phillip’s mother’s house. Friday was poop day. Stanley had too much to eat on Thanksgiving and he left a big poop next to the kitchen door. He also had diarrhea on the dining room carpet. Brave Phillip cleaned it up with help from his sister until she was so grossed out that had to go into the bathroom and gag. I heartily recommend Resolve spray carpet cleaner.

But wait, there’s more. Back at Gabrielle’s house we tried to take the boys outside frequently but it wasn’t frequently enough because Sherman pooped on the living room carpet. Brave Phillip cleaned that one up as well.

And finally, Stanley had more diarrhea on the living room carpet about 10 feet away from Sherman’s location. I heartily recommend OxyClean as well. Once again, Phillip did most of the cleaning, although I did help.

There are always a few people on the floor after Thanksgiving dinner. You know who you are.

Love the picture of Moses and Wayne.
That’s what I was doing after Thanksgiving dinner too πŸ™‚

Sorry about Stan and Sherm’s accidents… Always a bummer. We’ve used Resolve and Oxy both with success also…
    Happy Monday!

  2. Sorry to hear that the boys were not feeling well. An upset tummy is never fun. Do you think it was the travel – or was everyone sneaking them treats and leftovers all weekend ?

The Holidays memories are made of…SO sorry the boys over indulged. πŸ™‚ Hope you had a good time in between all that poopy mess.

Happy holidays, sounds like fun (except for clean-up)! Yeah, a little overindulgence and a major change in location/schedule is sure to give hounds upset tummies. Fortunately all was quiet and “normal” here, although Josie’s UTI is flaring up again and the carpet shampooer got several workouts …. poor Josie.

Sometimes tummy problems are more from the water than the food. Just saying πŸ™‚ Thanks for the pic of Moses. He is adorable.

I guess everyone is grateful that is was the *small* dogs who had poop incidents.

You can always count on a Beagle to embarrass you when visiting relatives! I guess you can call it Poopsgiving Day next year πŸ™‚

Talk about Beagles embarrassing us when visiting relatives. This was a long time ago but I will never forget it and it involves an Old English Sheepdog named Moses and our first Beagle Sandy when she was a puppy. I was holding Sandy on my lap, Moses was close by and kind of checking her out, Sandy was shaking. I believe it was Thanksgiving. Any way, my younger brother announced Sandy needed to meet Moses. She picked her up and stuck her right in Moses” face. His face was as big as she was. Sandy threw up right in his face and all over the rug of my Aunt and Uncle’s new house. It was quite the job cleaning the rug after that.

Awww – poopiness is no fun. Spunky is always kind of embarrassed on the rare occasion that she has an accident in the house – usually because we are away longer than planned, or she’s not feeling well. The one thing she always does, however, is pee at my mom’s house. In my parents’ bathroom. Every time we visit since she was a puppy. Don’t know why – she even went in their new house after they moved a year ago. She doesn’t go anywhere else or in anyone else’s house – just always on my parents’ bathroom rug.

LOVE those pics of Moses and Shermie!

I’m guessing all the excitement – all the people and dogs, good food smells, different house – contributed to the poopie problems. However, the cleanup is no fun.

I hope everyone in DD land had a great Thanksgiving!
