Ugh. Today is Monday, the start of the first 5-day work week I’ve had in what seems like months. A little extra coffee is definitely in order.

I understand how you feel, Laurie. I took the last of my 2013 vacation over the Christmas/New Years week, and it was HARD to go back to work!

I am also home today (as is my sister, Lori) due to the incredible cold here in Wisconsin. There are warnings out in our county, not just about the cold, but also “deteriorating road conditions,” according to the Sheriff’s Department website. Cody, Henry, the kitties, Lori, and I are all snuggling under the covers today.

For those of you also caught in these horrible cold conditions, stay warm and safe!

    ditto – ugh!
at least Joan is home and doing well enough to try to go back to work today..
Gypsy and Trent can go back to sleeping all day without daddy pacing the house..

I sincerely hope that you are finished and just giving Stanley the dregs!

I had the pleasure of going back to work last week – Thursday and Friday – but am home today due to the bad weather here in Michigan. Everyone who’s buried in this deep freeze do your best to stay warm – snuggle with those fur babies!

Same here. Back to work last Thursday and Friday, home today because of weather. I also have Friday off for my birthday. I bet they love me at work!

  5. Buddy and Holly are burrowing under the covers as usual. We had about 9 inches of snow on Friday and they had tons of fun romping around in it- but it is now in the 50 and raining so most of it is gone. My family back in Wisconsin are all stuck indoors because of the frozen tundra conditions also and licking their wounds from the Packer loss yesterday. Buddy and Holly had their Packer gear on and watched the game with me- but it didn’t help them. Don’t let Stanley have too much coffee – or he won’t be able to sleep his normal 20 hours a day 😉

As I sit here enjoying my 3rd cup, I couldn’t agree more. 🙂 If only I had a Beagle to share it with. Gandolf (my shepherd/beagle) doesn’t enjoy hot beverages.

It’s cold here in Houston . We are not used to it. Our fur babies didn’t want to go out this morning.
They are all snuggly now I am sure.

    Keep safe and warm everyone!

We have been worrying about all of you in the deep freeze! It was 9 here this am but no moisture – very cold for our part of Texas. ….although when the dang alarm went off this AM I was wishing for a snow day!

Miserable cold rain here in Connecticut. The temp is supposed to plummet and it will all freeze on the roads. Yuck! btw, Saw your birthday message…who is Rick?

  11. Carol, Eddy's mom said

Currently, it is -5 degrees F here in the St. Louis area, with 10 inches of snow on the ground. Eddy was outside for about 30 seconds this morning. He has been in bed, under the blankets ever since. Yesterday we tried doggie boots on him, oh the misery!!!!!

    • Carol, Libby's mom said

Also from St. Louis, the snow (10 inches+) is taller than Libby! She usually likes to go for walks but twice in the last few days, we have walked out the door only to go a short distance. Then Libby turns around to come back into the house without doing anything. I don’t blame her at all. I am very thankful for Nature’s Miracle and I got extra packages of paper towels before the Snowmageddon for the unavoidable “accidents.”

      • Carol, Eddy's mom said

Eddy sends Lily a warm beagle snuggle. I was worried the Nature’s Miracle might freeze, so I brought the bottle in from the garage…a different kind of storm preparation

  12. Julie, JB & Cassie's Mum in the UK said

Stil raining and blowing here in the UK! At least snow would be a change from mud, however what we’re hearing on the news about the US at the moment (the Arctic Vortex) is scary stuff, so please all people and beagles stay safe.

Without wishing to be a party pooper on the subject of coffee, consumption on a regular basis can cause kidney problems. My in laws had two Westies for several years and both had tea and coffee regularly, however when they died, although they had other problems, both had kidney failure. So it’s worth just a lick of an empty cup rather than actually having tea or coffee to drink.

  13. Cathy, Gomez, Lily & Mr. Peabz said

It’s 45 degrees Amurrican here* with a forecast high of 67. Nevertheless, the beagles are doing some serious snuggling.

*Here = The Prune Capital of the World, Campbell, California.

Another frozen St. Louisian here… It’s gone from -7° now up to 0°. Wind chill is -18°. I put sweaters on the dogs but it really seems to be their feet and legs that need as much protection right now. It’s so sad when they’re out there to potty, their legs look like they’re freezing up. On the bright side, the wind had cleared the snow off patches of the grass so it’s a little easier for them to find a place to go.

  15. Susan in DE said

Yes, the snow is all gone in Delaware, too, but we’re looking for an overnight low of 5 degrees. I’m guessing tomorrow morning I’m going to have to hold Josie and Lady’s rumps out the dog door in turn, and squeeze them each like a tube of toothpaste.

Wishing all Of you warmth and good puppy snuggles… Be safe…

I hate to post this, but it’s a balmy 73 here in Carpinteria, CA, and I have an ocean view. Of course, Im on the side of Highway 101, watching my contractor try to fuse the HDPE pipe….

Had to abandon plans for a beagle walkies with a local beagles-owning friend due to the rain this morning 😦 And now the sky is blue, arghhhh!
Very sorry for you folks freezing in the US – we’ve seen the pictures on the TV. . .
And as for Harperlea & your 73 deg – jealous doesn’t even come close!!!!!!
Happy Birthday Rick, from the UK 🙂

      Hi Linda!
Yeah I felt kinda bad when I posted that 😦
If its any consolation (not much I’m sure) I’m working on a busy highway inspecting a new sewer force main and it’s dirty, noisy, and questionably safe (distracted drivers and all).
Hope all over the pond and here in the US are staying safe and warm!

    PS to Ron,
I’m so happy to read that Joan is doing better !!!
I’m sure the Beagles are helping with the healing!
