Gomez, Lily and Mr. Peabody

Cathy writes:

Left to right: Mr. Peabody who is still a bit dubious about photography, Lily looking (as always) toward the kitchen, and Gomez, wishing the lights on that iPhone thing would stop flashing.

Gomez is looking pretty happy to be out of his 12-week confinement after his second knee surgery. The crate is still there, but he’s free at last to move around!

Mr. Peabody is very closely watching some beef-related activity in the kitchen.

Working from home with Lily, who says I’ve missed a connection between the data warehouse and the application database.

Cathy!!! What great pictures! (and captions)
Mr Peabody is very distinguished and handsome! Lily is a little beauty – love her expression looking over your screen…and Gomez what a darling boy!!!!
I love the first pic! I can’t get more than two of mine in a picture 😦

Great picturing and captioning! What a great trio!

What wonderful beagles!! So glad to see photos of the Bay Area pirate crew, Cathy :-> You can definitely tell Miss Lily has attitude and rules the roost. Gomez is a sweety, and I agree with Harper that Mr. Peabody is very handsome (I’m a sucker for the big “field” beagles, especially the ones from the Clayton mold, like Josie!). And if Lady were helping with your diagram, she’d ask if you needed to make note of any processing time in between the data warehouse and application database!

I love the name of Mr Peabody, have you caught him saying “Sherman my boy” :-). I did see a trailer for a Mr Peabody movie coming out I think this year. These are great photos!

More gorgeous beagles! I especially love the expression on Mr Peabody’s face in the middle picture – he has the same noble look that our JB has!! Such a beautiful boy.

Thanks everyone, and thanks especially to Laurie who took some crummy (dark, fuzzy, differing sizes/resolutions) images and made them presentable!

I too have VERY few pics of all three beagles together – they’re might be in the same room, but not in the same frame, so I was pretty excited to catch all three of them lounging on the couch. Susan, we laugh about Mr. Peabody’s big head and floppy face, and he really is one of those big ol’ field beagles. And tell Lady that she’s highlighted my biggest concern: processing lag times!

Forgot to say in the last post – the Run Free Campaign e-petition now has 32,035 signatures on it. When it gets to 35,000 it will be presented to the British Government by Beagle Welfare, to try and get the horrific practice of experimenting on beagles in the UK stopped. So thank you to all who have signed in the US – the website is http://www.beagleadvice.org.uk for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet and would like to sign.

I just signed for you. Hope it gets to the 35,000.

I signed also Julie, thanks for the heads up on this. I was wondering if non-UK residents could sign, and we can. There are plenty of people around the world who have signed.

    all 3…adorable!

  14. Mr. Peabody looks like Oscar! The nice square hound face with the jowls. Although he has the Spencer Suspicious look in the first picture.

How do you walk them? All at the same time? I have enough trouble with two as they are very strong and feel very strongly about their walks and sniffing time.

    • Cathy, Gomez, Lily & Mr. Peabz said

Walking them is . . . interesting. It’s easier to do all three than to selectively take one or two hounds out the door, but still chaotic. The beginning of the walk is a complete joke until I can get them to line up their noses and toes(es) with mine and stop eating grass or trot off to check the neighbor’s car for treats.

I keep Lily’s and Gomez’s leads in my left hand and reserve my dominant arm for controlling Mr. Peabz. There are plenty of mostly ineffective commands such as Don’t Pull and Wait and Leave It (ha ha) and Stay in the Channel and No May Pole that serve to entertain the neighbors. I’m usually ready to come home after 30 minutes. 🙂

      • Hi Cathy

I had to laugh. I tell everyone that the most important command for a beagle is not Stay, Sit, Down or Finish. The most important command is “DROP IT”.

Spencer is finally getting it, but 2x a week we have trash day and I can’t believe that some people leave their trash out on the sidewalk in plastic bags and not sealed inside a beagle proof container. Spencer lunges at the big plastic bags like a shark to chum.

I love the pix of these three babies! Mr. Peabody and Gomez are such dears, but I can tell from Lily’s expression (especially in the first shot) that SHE is the boss. Such bright eyes!
