Carrots, yum

Maggie says “hi!” to her mom and dad and little brother. Here she is, caught up in the sweeping excitement of salad time.

Today is January 29. Does that ring a bell? Probably not but it does for me as it was one year ago today that my colon twisted on itself, I got to ride in an ambulance and then have emergency surgery! I am reminded of this every day because I have a scar that goes from the top to the bottom of my abdomen. It healed nicely (I guess) and everything works properly. Phillip said that I was only a couple of hours away from sepsis which is frequently fatal. So today, like we try every day, we count our blessings.

It really doesn’t seem that long ago, but I guess time flies. Hope the dogs are keeping you warm.

The Lash pack is very grateful that you are healthy!!! And I count among my blessings the Kramer Clan and all the DD Family.
Laurie: this may not provide much comfort, but scars are cool- they tell the tale of your survival! I have so many scars that tell the tale of my life, including two that look like lightening bolts… And both my knees have 6 to 7 inch scars from my knee surgeries…
You’re still beautiful inside and out!

    Hi Laurie,

Glad things turned out well a year ago!

Will you please refer me to a previous post or advise regarding what you feed your dogs? They always seem healthy and energetic and at a good weight. I have 2 little fatties and Buddy has acid reflux.

Below – Peepers in the front and Buddy in the back. Tough life…

Thank you, and cheers! to your health!

I’m so glad everything went well with your surgery and recovery. I’m sure it was due to the excellent post surgical care you had from your four legged nurses!

Wow, it’s been a year. I’m so glad things turned out well after such a scary ordeal.

I came close (in a different, much less emergent way) to losing some of my colon once and it was really Not Fun. May you continue to enjoy very good health!

  6. One of my neighbors is an occupational therapist and while talking to her the other day I was racking my brain on why you were in the hospital not that long ago…..oh yeah, the old colon.

Glad everything worked out and your a healthy and happy.

Maggie looks like she has no trouble fitting in at your household!

I’m glad you’re still here. And I’m sure the boys are too! Not to mention Phillip!! BTW, what is it about carrots? Lucky is usually very finicky when it comes to vegetables (she’s definitely a carnivore). But she will ALWAYS eat a carrot when it’s offered.

Such a happy girl! We knew she would have the best time with you. We’ve been thinking about her a lot…it’s so good to know she’s with you and the boys! (And the carrots are a healthy alternative to the Cheerio-heavy diet that Emmett has been feeding her!)

Laurie, enjoy your one year anniversary. Several years ago my Mom (85 at the time) had very similar experience. She too is doing fine. Every day is a new day, isn’t it! And with our beagles, sometimes everyday seems like five days! 🙂
