Close up

The boys are going stir-crazy. Every night at about 8:00, Stanley chases himself around the house. Up and down the stairs, on and off the bed. I’d enroll them in an aerobics class if I could.

So which one is holding the cell phone for the “selfie”? (snort) 😉
Mine are a bit stir crazy too … I get home too late to play ball with them… Can’t wait for the time change!

Poor Stan! And Sherman just wants to cuddle.

Being a little bit more senior than Stan and Sherm, Josie (14) and Lady (10) are a little more sedate, but they’re not thrilled with the lack of activity. When they get goofy, I play chase with them in the house, so I get my aerobic excercise as well (Bummer they won’t actually chase each other).

Had to add a comment regarding the Kong Wobbler that Luana mentioned at the end of the day yesterday. I had gotten a pair of similar toys for Josie & Jordan several years ago, and gave up after 2 uses. Josie would poke it and sniff around the bottom, then look at me questioningly, wagging her tail as if to say, “Um, could you help me with this, Mom?”. On the other hand, Jordan kicked and swatted his toy so enthusiastically and continuously, I was afraid he was going to dent the dishwasher, and the next day he was limping from his “sports injury”. We’ve found other ways to stay occupied!

My dogs eat the kong itself. When we have kong time I have to sit with my eyes glued to them (which I can’t do with three dogs) or I notice brightly colored inclusions in the next day’s poop.

Funny story, Susan! Thanks for sharing!

How about PetSmart day camp? Just to run some energy off.

Our two have been out for walks twice a day throughout all the bad weather we’ve had since Christmas, although they’ve had to have their coats on a lot of the time, which neither of them like. Many times they’ve come back wet and muddy and our kitchen and utility have been full of wet coats, towels, socks, boots, hats and gloves. Roll on the end of the rain – think the UK will float away if we get much more. Much of the south of country is now under seriously deep water (several feet in some areas) and thousands of houses have been flooded. Thank goodness we live on high ground and not near a river!!

the weather hasn’t changed our out schedule but it sure changed the time we spend out…I’ve never seen dogs hurry to get done and in like the past few weeks!
Gypsy doesn’t mind the extra nap time..but our little man gets his run time in at least once or twice a day…puppy “fits” at 6 and 10, just like the news..They both miss wandering the yard which is now a large sheet of ice..even the areas that I cleared for them have ice patches…
    damn groundhog…

  8. Didn’t have time to check in yesterday. Great to finally see Henry & Cody. What handsome boys!

I won’t tell you what the weather is like here, you might not want me to post anymore!

and I’m trying out the “wink” 😉

Think we’ll all have webbed feet in the UK soon! 🙂 Take care in the snow and ice everyone x

Jack is definitely stir crazy, he’ll only play fetch a few times before he tries to steal the ball/toy and destroy it so I have to take it away. We have had windchills of pretty much -30 Celsius or colder since about the middle of November so walks are few and far between (exposed skin can get frostbite in around 5 minutes). We’ve done lots of tours at Petsmart, just walking around sniffing, saying ‘hello’ to everyone. Sometimes when it warms up a little we’ll just go in the yard and play chase for a few minutes until he runs to the door cuz he’s cold. We definitely take advantage of any ‘warm’ day we get to go for a long walk and play in the snow!

Of course you could enter the boys in an aerobics class! Better yet, they could teach it. They could call it Baa-ROOOO-bics!

Spunky has about given up on getting walks – they’ve been few and far between with it so cold. And she’s getting fat……. Good new is that it’s supposed to warm into the low 30s by the end of the week here in Michigan. It’s like a tropical heat wave!!
