Crunch crunch

Posted by laurie on April 10, 2014

I love the Internet. I asked Google “why do dogs’ feet smell like Fritos?” and got 15,500 results back. The answer is, no surprise, bacteria and it’s nothing to worry about. Scooter’s feet used to smell like Fritos and Sherman’s feet do, too.

Wow, now you have me curious so will have to smell our little circus to check them out!

  2. Kate (Gandolf's mom, w/ memories of Kramer) said

Kramer’s feet did too! Gandolf’s not so much, but he’s part shepherd.

  3. Frito Feet is one of the many nicknames for my two. I had to go and smell their feet the last time I read about this strange occurance on this site 🙂

Peggy (the 5 lb holly terrier) was sleeping on my the other night and I had a urge to go get some Frito’s because her little feet were right under my chin. She has the most Frito of toes compared to George and Gracie the beagles!

Bartles the Bassets feet smell like Fritos but none of the others do (lab, GS, and Malinois).., I call Barts “my little Frito Chip” sometimes. Interesting that it’s bacteria… I figured it had to do with the corn in their food.

I love the smell of my beagles’ feet. They are slightly different from each other.

Yep, I had to smell them too the first time I heard this. 🙂 The Beags feet do smell that way, but not the lab/basset mix.

So…..those who eat Fritos, do you think of puppy feet while your eating them?

Jordan had serious Frito feet, Lady and Josie not so much. I don’t like Fritos, so don’t feel an urge to nibble on their toes.

which begs the question, why do fritos smell like dog feet? And why do we eat fritos if they smell like dog feet?

  11. Cathy, Gomez, Lily & Mr. Peabz said

Ha! One of Gomez’s many nicknames is Frito Smallberries. I’ve noticed the frito smell is particularly strong after a walk, probably just from their feet getting heated up.

I googled it too and was less interested in sniffing Miss Scarlett’s feet after I found out it was bacteria! But her feet do smell like Fritos.

We use to say that all the time as kids at Halloween.

    they are sure enjoying it

Frito feet is probably NOT the reason that Scooter is sniffing Spenser’s foot …. I’m gonna guess Spenser might have stepped in something that Scooter finds even more delicious than Fritos!

I noticed our Beagle, Preacher – RIP, had what I deemed “Dorito feet” many, many years ago. Every Beagle since has had the same foot aroma. I stopped eating Dorito’s a long time ago 🙂

Well, I never realized it was his feet but in the morning when Jack uncurls and stretches for a belly rub I’ve always said he smells like nachos. I regularly burst into a song I call “Nacho Dog” to the tune of “Macho Man” (Nacho, nacho dog, I got me a nacho dog!). LOL
