Stanley will eat just about anything, including dirt.

Ditto with my dogs. Dirt comes with a side of dangerous microbes.

Oh, dirty dirt eating for dessert! We had a phase where Josie and Jordan did that for months, and then both of them stopped. Neither Josie nor Lady do it right now.

Sounds like Stanley’s all beagle 🙂
Our little Wookey Girl (who we now think is a Belgian Malinois – or as I like to tease my husband, a teacup German Shepard 😉 ) is in her puppy shredding phase… But she also likes to eat poop :(. Aside from cleaning daily I’m not sure how to stop it… I haven’t tried the pineapple trick yet…

  4. Perhaps Stanley is digging for black truffles. I saw a dog doing that on TV this past weekend. He dug up over $700 worth of the things. Now if we could teach our beables to dig up something that was worth anything. 😉

Once my Baxter found $20 on the sidewalk. He just went right up to it and sniffed. Sadly that only happened once, and he continued to mooch off me!

My suspicious is that Stanley may indeed be digging for “black truffles” – the variety left in your garden by neighborhood cats!

I will not make a list of what my 12 year old beagle “puppy” has eaten through the years but I thank God he is blessed with a cast iron stomach! Beagles are “green” – they recycle!

Oh jeez. I found Gomez eating the blossoms on the water irises the other day. Last week he ate my tulip bulbs! This morning (at 5:00, for pete’s sake) Mr. Peabz decided to have a snack outside after taking care of some other business. Sure enough, after coming back to bed for a bit he bounded up for the next step in the process, which is barfing the snack up on the carpet. Most of it went on the second landing but a little did make it outside, so it’s a good day.

They really like dirt too, probably because of the residual poop content.

Both of mine are backyard grazers, they eat whatever they can find, dirt, poop, grass, etc etc. My yard is just grass for that reason. Huggy doesn’t graze, he just digs.

  8. Spencer eats paper. He especially likes the extra large Costco Kirkland paper towels.

We say he is self wiping.

ditto, I wondered why they kept digging in this one spot in the grass to realize that is where some barbeque cinders were being dumped…. duh, there are flavors in cinders, don’t you know?

Gypsy was eating “out” just this morning…fresh, damp dirt. Her tongue was black…almost as gross as poo..
