We are bad beagle parents. Stanley had to have three teeth pulled on Friday. He is none the worse for wear, but we feel very guilty. The vet sent us home with toothbrushes and toothpaste. I thought I’d try sticking a finger in his mouth before a toothbrush, and he squirmed and squirmed. This is not going to be easy!

Whirrrrrr!

Phillip has had this remote-controlled helicopter for several weeks now and he’s really getting good at it. It puts out quite a breeze and here he is drying my green onions. He’s so thoughtful. The boys are not fond of it, particular Stanley who runs out of whatever room the helicopter is in.

Poor Stanley.

Handsome boy

As predicted, the gas leak didn’t affect the vet hospital but the boys came home anyway after their bloodwork. Unfortunately Stanley is going to lose a tooth, possible two. We reschedueld him for April 11 and Sherman will have to wait which is okay because his teeth are in pretty good shape. We have to start brushing their teeth. Does anyone have any pointers?

Priorities

The second thing Stanley did when we brought him home from beagle camp was to get comfy with his little bed. The first thing, of course, was to assume the treat position.

Pushing 80°

us

We spent a glorious 4 days on Little Gasparilla Island, off the west coast of Florida. You have to take a ferry to the island and then ride around in a golf cart (fun!) to get to the beach. It rained the first day, then got progressively nicer.

The boys stayed with Courtneay and Lance, beagle Maggie and Emmett the toddler. Stanley was in toy heaven. We brought the pup tent and were told that Emmett would follow Stanley into it, then emerge triumphant.

Now it’s back to the grind.

Calm before the storm

Stanley was unceremoniously kicked off the bed last night due to growling. He hates being moved while he’s sleeping and puts on quite a ferocious show. Meanwhile, Sherman went outside in the very early morning to howl. We had dinner with our neighbors last night and they claimed that they “no longer hear the barking.” Oh yeah, right.

Still life with Maggie

I’m not done posting the guest DDs (coming up in order of receipt from: Cathy, Maureen, Donna, Kim, Lauren, Jean, Emily, Luana, Mike) but wanted the vacationing Courtneay and Lance to see their Maggie. She settled right in and is getting along fine with the boys. She tries to get Stanley to play, but he’s not ready just quite yet.

We bought this chair a couple of years ago to be my “reading chair” but I never used it because there was no light in the corner. Phillip installed some track lighting a couple of weeks ago so on occasion I get my butt off the couch and into my chair. Stanley paces back and forth and looks at me with pitiful eyes. He likes to read with his mama, so I really have no choice at all but to let him up. He’ll frequently stand and turn in a circle to change position but as you can see, this is the only viable one. He does provide a nice warm body during this latest polar vortex.

Daddy’s home, part 3

I wasn’t sure if I’d used this photo before so I did a search for “Daddy’s home” and found two other posts, neither of which used it. This is from the fall (hence the leaves) which shows that I am low on pictures.

Therefore, I declare a CALL FOR GUEST DD’s! Email me your photo and some text.

Ugh. Today is Monday, the start of the first 5-day work week I’ve had in what seems like months. A little extra coffee is definitely in order.
