Spenser was such a lap dog. A 42-pound lap dog.
Speaking of winter, Phillip informs me that our average snowfall is 25″ (63.5 cm), and this year we’ve already collected 58″ (147.3 cm). Yesterday my sister texted me a photo of her Oregon daffodils. Is that sisterly love? I don’t think so! I replied with a photo of a huge snow pile in my parking lot at work.

I thought the same thing…
My yard is a skating rink. I don’t care if its 50 for the next 3 days, its all not melting..
We were all sliding around on it at 6:30am walk time..
It should be that much more fun tomorrow and Saturday post this impending deluge..
As for lap dogs, Trent thinks he is too. All 41 lbs of him and his bony knees…

Ron, I think we’ll be okay over the weekend here in the Mid-Atlantic. I don’t believe the overnight temperatures are supposed to go below freezing during the deluge and weekend melt, so perhaps a bit of a reprieve … this morning was definitely dicey, though, and there were plenty of black ice accidents during the morning commute (just missed being in one myself!)
Our 2XL beagles Josie and Jordan aren’t(weren’t) lap dogs. Josie doesn’t even want to be on the people furniture, and Jordan was just a leaner. Little beagle Lady also prefers to smash up against you, unless I’m snuggling under my grandmother’s heirloom handwoven mohair afghan. The second I put it on my lap, she’s right up on top of me. I had to make sure to stash it somewhere safely when not in use, because I twice caught her incorporating it into her sofa nest. She can have any other pillow, blanket, etc., but that one is off limits! (Which means, of course, that’s the one she wants most!).

Haven’t seen it except in town (carpinteria).
Just walked the park area ( I don’t normally pay attention I’m watching the construction) 🙂 above the stairs that go to the beach…
There are signs for:
Tsunami Hazard Zone
No nudity
No lifeguard on duty
And a full panel devoted to keeping the beach clean and picking up after your pet

Well, we here in the Portland/Vancouver area average NO inches of snow, and we got between a 6″ of snow and a foot of snow, depending on location. My house got 6″ So its been a crazy year too. I think we earned out daffodils by deal with the snow 2 weekends ago! (I have no daffodils, just one little crocus)

Have you noticed that some folks aren’t as enamored with our 50+ lb. lap dogs as we are? They don’t know what they are missing!
The weather here in Houston has been fluctuating so much that everyone has some sort of illness, plus bugs are back already 😦 Booooo

Here in southeastern WI we’re going to have a little bit of everything – rain/snow/sleet. Tomorrow 50 mph winds. Could be worse – in the NW part of the state, they’re expecting a blizzard.

JB is a lap boy (all 40+ pounds of him) but Cassie prefers to snuggle up against you rather than on you. We think perhaps with former owners she’s never been encouraged to be a lap dog, whereas JBs been a lap boy all his life.
Regarding the weather, it’s finally stopped raining all the time here in the UK; we’re only getting shorter showers at the moment. We still have horrendous flooding though and they are not likely to abate for several weeks. The temperatures have been crazy this winter, we’ve had a few nights cold enough for a bit of frost but in Derbyshire we’ve had no snow at all (yet!). Many days have been very wet and windy but not really cold, it’s been more like an extended Autumn. No doubt the snow will come at some time, I guess March and April might be winter rather than Spring!!

I forgot how big the boys were. My guy is 30 and that’s enough. I’m debating adopting a second this Spring, and 25 pounds will be the limit as Scout does best with smaller dogs. Of course, cuteness points equal “add the pounds” points!

Tucker was a lap dog when we first got him at 52lbs. He lost 12 lbs at one point but age has gotten the better of him and his 13 year old bones don’t like sitting on laps much anymore. He has several tumors on his insides so he won’t be with us too much longer. The girls (Niko, Yuki) love laps and can’t get enough of them. But they are more reasonable at around 25 lbs.

Awww, Tucker …. love him however he wants to be loved (lap or not) for as long as you still have him. I love old beagles!

Spunky topped out at 36 lbs., which was too heavy, so we’ve managed to keep her weight down around 30 for the last several years. One of our vets wanted her down to 25, but we could just never manage to get that much weight off her. She is not a lap dog, though, and not really much of a cuddler. She will lay on our feet or legs, and occasionally gets up in our faces and acts like she wants hugs, but I think she’s just smelling our breath to see what we’ve been eating.
Weather – yuck! While I was out running errands this morning we had heavy, heavy snow with lightning and thunder. But being Michigan, it changed quickly and we are now in the rain phase. With the feet of snow we have on the ground, it’s only a matter of time until the trickles of water start running across my basement floor.

No lap Beagles here as of yet! I do hope that changes, but Daisy Mae has been with us a year and lays in “her spot” on the sofa or her Dad’s recliner. She will roll over to be scratched if you sit next to her though! She learned early on how nice that felt. And when it’s the last walk of the night she will not get up till you scratch…doesn’t have to be long but it’s either that or you carry her to the back door. She is a funny girl! Ellie Mae has been here for 6 weeks and has only laid on the sofa once next to her beagle sister. Actually come to think of it, that’s the only time she has gotten on the furniture on her own. We can lay her next to us and she will settle and stay there until we get up. The small non-beagles do enjoy some lap time, but also lay around on their own or with the others. Good thing because our laps would be way too small for everyone at one time!

Thanks! It is one of my favorites of Daisy Mae! She loves her duck! It’s an AKC sling shot toy, but I removed that rubber part after she became so fond of it. I have bought more so she can have backups and it’s a good thing, because her new sister loves the toys a little to much! We now have one duck with no legs!
