“Sherman, if you’re a good boy (and you always are), I’ll let you sniff the salad.
“I said SNIFF!”

Sometimes I don’t have a photo to get started.
Then Stanley happily obliges.
Trouble is, every time I stand up to to take a picture, Stan thinks I’m going to the kitchen to give him a extra-large treat. So I have to make do.

There were three other dogs at Thanksgiving (Levi, Elizabeth and Vous) but it was pretty much impossible to get a picture of all of them together. Needless to say, this one best represents the canine Thanksgiving experience. The boys were well-behaved, even Stanley.
The pies were well-received and the apple in particular was quite good. It was placed right next to me and I couldn’t help but clean out the stray pieces of apple and crust. I read a funny Thanksgiving quote: “Don’t forget to turn your scales back ten pounds tonight.” We picked up more brush on Friday (calorie burner) and on Saturday we went to a wedding. The GPS took us to the wrong church in the wrong town but we managed to find our way with a good 30 minutes left in the ceremony.
As you might have guessed, there will be no calendars this year. I couldn’t quite get it all together. Sorry!

Tootsie and Buttercup are with us for the week and they plan to join the boys (well, Stanley) in helping me during today’s pie marathon. Here’s what I’m making: two pumpkin pies, a cranberry pie and an apple pie. Plus pumpkin bread. Would you believe I’ve never made an apple pie before? Weird, huh. We are joining the Kramer clan in Brooklyn. Have a great day everyone. I’ll be back next Monday.

My birthday is this week and last week I did my annual birthday swim: 100 yards X my age = 212 laps (3 miles). It was a cakewalk compared to our yard work this weekend. “Oh my aching back!” We spent a good part of each day (Phillip more than I) picking up branches and bringing them down to the road in both this small tractor trailer, and Phillip’s large car trailer. The town is going to pick them up. I unloaded maybe a third of this pile.
And Phillip did this entire one himself. He’d drive the car with the trailer into the wooded part of the yard. Very soon after, Stanley (and sometimes Sherman) would get in the backseat and wait the forty-five or so minutes it took to collect and load the trailer. So cute! They didn’t want to miss a road (or yard) trip. They’d ride down to the road and wait while he unloaded. Stanley had to bark at all cars and everyone who was walking along the canal. Sherman napped.
I envy Sherman’s ability to nap anywhere. Home or away!

The first picture is of Dino KJG (reading his favorite book); second is Skippy (all the toys, beds, and dishes belong to him, but he shares), and the third is Molly and Skippy (their Jubilee portrait). They were 13 last birthday. Dino (Molly’s brother) died in his sleep earlier this year, and is still missed.
