Tootsie and Buttercup

Tootsie and Buttercup have spent the past several days with us. Before they arrived, their 4-year old human brother Jacob insisted on a site visit to check things out. We passed. Phew! Here you can see that they haven’t quite figured out the pup tent bed yet, but have managed to make themselves comfortable nevertheless.

Uncle Bob and Nancy came over to visit. They really miss having a dog in the house, but hopefully that will be temporary – they’re looking to adopt in the near future.

Captain Kramer

Phillip is marching in the Memorial Day parade today, not just as the Deputy Mayor but as a veteran. This is the flight suit he used to wear when flying a B-52. Please take a moment today to think about all the soldiers who never made it home.

A quiet evening at home

(Hint: when an otherwise good photo turns out blurry, I’ll apply an artistic filter to distract you.)

While we ate dinner last night the boys gathered next to the sliding glass door here and commenced barking and howling at whatever was happening next door. They didn’t go outside, they just stood there and barked, drowning out our fascinating dinnertime conversation. So Phillip got up, opened the door and pushed them out. Can you guess what happens next? Correct, they galloped around the corner to the doggy door and ran back inside. This is not an uncommon occurrence. I love dinner at home.

Can you hear me know?

Phillip was never much of a telephone talker until he entered politics, at which point he went throttle up and full speed ahead. His favorite place to talk is in the car (hands-free!) and often when he gets home he’s not done with the conversation so he continues it outside. Which looks a little like he’s conducting because he always talks on speaker phone. Phillip! Dinner’s ready!

Biker beagle

On Friday morning the boys were outside after breakfast and I was drinking my coffee. I heard a single piercing shriek from Sherman which is his trademark hunting noise. Then silence. A few moments later I saw him heading to the doggy door with what appeared to be Mr. Unstuffed Raccoon toy in his mouth. Except it wasn’t Mr. Raccoon. Sherm came inside with what now appeared to be a dead bunny in his mouth. I grabbed him and yelled for Phillip who ran downstairs and blessedly took over. He managed to pry open Sherman’s mouth and the dead bunny dropped to the floor. Except it wasn’t dead, it was alive and quickly hopped under the couch. Phillip beat the beagles to it and brought it outside on the other side of the fence. I washed my hands for the next fifteen minutes (just kidding!) and Sherman thankfully went back to bed.

This is our friend Cathy on her new motorcycle! Doesn’t Sherman look tough up there?

Buy, buy, buy

Happy Facebook IPO day! We’re hoping to get a few shares from our stockbroker and become fabulously wealthy so that we can quit our day jobs and retire. I’ll keep you posted.

Update! We own 25 shares of Facebook! Working on my retirement letter!
