I recognized it immediately, the sound of stuffing being pulled out of a squeaky toy. But wait, all our squeaky toys are non-stuffed. Uh oh, what naughtiness was happening? It was Stanley de-stuffing Holly’s little daybed.
Sorry about that, Audrey and Kevin! I put the stuffing back in but the hole is still there. My sewing skills stop at buttons.
Tonight is pick-up night. Buddy and Holly are going to be SOOOO excited to see their parents! We are going to be SOOOO sad to see them go…

This is by far the best sunning venue in the house, and it shows. Buddy and Holly will be with us for the weekend; Audrey and Kevin will pick them up on Monday. I know there will be repercussions when I say this, but, I am quite happy having four dogs in the house. (But I prefer owning just two!)

Holly spends time on our bed during the day while the boys hang out on the couch. This pillow was neatly placed on the pile and the princess removed it for her own use.
Looks like they staged a love-in.

Poor Uncle Bob! Not one beagle in his arms. So sad. He came over the other day to visit with Buddy and Holly. On the left is my wonderful housecleaner, Janice. She’s been coming here for fifteen years (now you know why the floors look clean!) and adores the boys. Her daughter Sarah recently joined the Army with the intent to be a bomb defuser (à la “The Hurt Locker”). We just learned that she changed her mind on that, thank goodness, and will work in communications instead.
Buddy and Holly are doing great, and I got an email from Audrey yesterday that she and Kevin were having a wonderful time and were headed for Greece.

It’s nice to know that everyone was comfortable while I was hanging on for dear life. Apparently Stanley was on the other side of the bed. The others seemed to leave him little choice.

It’s nice to see Stanley finally figuring out how to play. Buddy would do a play-bow and Stanley would bark. Buddy would run around the house and Stanley would bark. Then bark some more.
This is about as close as Holly gets to joining in with the boys. She wants to help me bake cookies instead. I can do cookies, but I draw the line at sewing.

I think this is a pretty good caption photo, yes? Have at it. The trophy was for the winner of the town’s annual cops vs. over-50-league. Guess who won?

Buddy is a finicky eater when it comes to treats. He’ll carefully sniff what you offer and sometimes take it, sometimes not. I think this has something to do with the fact that he is part dachshund. Surprisingly, he doesn’t like carrots, nor does his sister Holly who seems to like just about everything else. Both love sugar snap peas. Go figure.

This was taken, believe it or not, from the dinner table. But before you think we’ve got them trained, well, stop thinking. It didn’t last for long.

I’ll stick to the fabulous four this week and next so Audrey and Kevin can see their kids while they’re in Italy. That’s Holly on the left and Sherman on his back. Buddy and Holly are wearing their guest collars and yesterday I bought a backup battery for Buddy’s collar of shame, since the one we have is several years old.
Here’s a close-up of Holly. She likes to stick her head under my arm when I’m at the computer to get some loving. The whole gang is sleeping in bed with us, moving in and out of the covers. Sometimes all four are under. I am an exceptionally sound sleeper so barely notice. (I think Phillip notices.) I just have one question – how do they breathe??
